Abstract:
The invention provides compositions and methods for storage of biomolecules. The biomolecules are stored via absorption to a substrate. Absorbed biomolecules can be eluted or recovered from the substrate at a future time, and optionally be subjected to a subsequent analysis or application. Biomolecules absorbed to a substrate for storage may also optionally be preserved, i.e., the absorbed biomolecule is resistant to or resists degradation.
Abstract:
An antifuse circuit includes a terminal, an antifuse, and a select transistor. The antifuse is coupled to the terminal and has an associated program voltage. The select transistor is coupled to the antifuse and has a gate terminal coupled to receive a first select signal. The select transistor operates in a snapback mode of operation in response to an assertion of the first select signal and the program voltage at the terminal.
Abstract:
A substrate transport apparatus having a movable arm assembly, two substrate holders and a coaxial drive shaft assembly. The movable arm assembly has a general X-shaped section that has its center connected to the coaxial drive shaft assembly. The substrate holders are connected to different pairs of arm sections of the X-shaped section. The coaxial drive shaft assembly moves the arms of the X-shaped section relative to each other to move the two substrate holders in reverse unison motion between extended and retracted positions.
Abstract:
A method for the treatment of fluid feedstreams comprises the steps of providing at least one wafer (200) comprising a central area (202) providing a plurality of members (18) arranged in a plurality of layers (201) and peripheral support means (203) encompassing the central area, arranged axially in a module (180) having first and second ports (185, 208); a plurality of separate bore fluid chambers (198, 199) generally encompassing the peripheral support means and communicable with the members within the central area, and a plurality of separate bore fluid ports (192, 193) communicable with the bore fluid chambers; directing the feedstream through the first port and over the wafer; and transferring materials between the central area in the wafer and the feedstream. Related methods employ other multi port apparatus (220, 240) as well as wafers (240, 280, 300, 320, 350, 410, 460) for use therein. Treatment of the feedstreams includes contact with layers of hollow fibers (18), non-porous hollow tubes (309), porous hollow tubes (303) coated with membrane material (304 ) and transverse sheet membrane sleeves (360).
Abstract:
Valve mechanism for high-vacuum clean environments, wherein a slot aperture is closed by a gage having a lever. Motion of the gate which covers and uncovers the slot is imparted to the gate by longitudinal movement of the lever. Motion of the gate which seals and unseals the slot is imparted by pivoting movement of the level about a fulcrum near the center of the lever. The pivoting movement is imparted at a time different from that at which the longitudinal movement is imparted, and the pivoting movement may be imparted by means separate from that which imparts the longitudinal movement.
Abstract:
An optional removable front grip usable with any firearm having a barrel shroud formed with a row of regularly spaced openings on its underside. Such openings are routinely provided to ventilate the barrel. The invention front grip is hollow and is provided with a set of lugs which engage any three adjacent barrel shroud ventilation openings to thereby accommodate shooters having different arm lengths. One of the lugs is a locking lug which is operated easily by a screwdriver inserted through the hollow grip.
Abstract:
Polymeric affinity membranes comprise a precursor filtration membrane and a plurality of reaction sites provided on the surface of the membrane selective to binding a specific biological material. A process for the preparation of such affinity membranes includes the steps of providing a copolymer compatible with a water insoluble polymer matrix and having a plurality of hydroxyl groups, activating the hydroxyl groups and a compound selected from the group consisting of organic compounds reactive with a hydroxyl group in the presence of water miscible solvent to provide a derivatized copolymer containing active adducts, forming a solution of the derivatized copolymer and the polymer matrix to form a polymer blend solution, casting the polymer blend solution and, quenching the cast polymer blend solution in water. A process for selectively removing biological materials from fluids includes the step of passing the fluids over an affinity membrane which comprises a precursor filtration membrane and a plurality of reaction sites provided on the surface of the membrane selective to binding a specific biological material.
Abstract:
In a material transfer device, an articulated arm assembly extends and retracts in a "froglike" motion to transfer an object between a plurality of locations. The articulated arm assembly is rotatable about a pivot point in a radial plane and can be raised or lowered in an axial direction.
