Abstract:
Systems and methods for utilizing metadata embedded in a color measurement target to uniquely identify the target through color measurement. A color measurement target is used for color calibration, color characterization, color adjustment and/or color correction of a color output device and includes a collection of color patches imaged by the output device, wherein metadata is embedded directly into the color patches of the color measurement target to uniquely identify the target through color measurement. The metadata-bearing patches in the target are used to communicate information through color measurement, and can contribute to the color characterization.

Biocompatible intraocular implants include an anti-excitotoxic agent and a biodegradable polymer that is effective to facilitate release of the anti-excitotoxic agent into an eye for an extended period of time. The therapeutic agents of the implants may be associated with a biodegradable polymer matrix, such as a matrix that is substantially free of a polyvinyl alcohol. The implants may be placed in an eye to treat or reduce the occurrence of one or more ocular conditions, such as retinal damage, including glaucoma and proliferative vitreoretinopathy.
Abstract:
An integrated receiver with channel selection and image rejection substantially implemented on a single CMOS integrated circuit is described. A receiver front end provides programable attenuation and a programable gain low noise amplifier. Frequency conversion circuitry advantageously uses LC filters integrated onto the substrate in conjunction with image reject mixers to provide sufficient image frequency rejection. Filter tuning and inductor Q compensation over temperature are performed on chip. The filters utilize multi track spiral inductors with shields to increase circuit Q. The filters are tuned using local oscillators to tune a substitute filter, and frequency scaling during filter component values to those of the filter being tuned. In conjunction with filtering, frequency planning provides additional image rejection. The advantageous choice of local oscillator signal generation methods on chip is by PLL out of band local oscillation and by direct synthesis for in band local oscillator. The VCOs in the PLLs are centered using a control circuit to center the tuning capacitance range. A differential crystal oscillator is advantageously used as a frequency reference. Differential signal transmission is advantageously used throughout the receiver. ESD protection is provided by a pad ring and ESD clamping structure that maintains signal integrity. Also provided are shunts at each pin to discharge ESD build up. The shunts utilize a gate boosting structure to provide sufficient small signal RF performance, and minimal parasitic loading.

The present invention provides for compositions for administering a therapeutically effective amount of a therapeutic component. The compositions may include an ophthalmically acceptable carrier component; a therapeutically effective amount of a therapeutic component; and a retention component which may be effective to reduce wettability, induce viscosity, increase muco-adhesion, increase meniscus height on a cornea of an eye and/or increase physical apposition to a cornea of an eye of a composition.
Abstract:
A system for hardware intelligent speed monitoring and auto-retract is disclosed. The system contains a monitoring device that monitors the TACH (Tachometer) output of motor driver. The device provides a trigger to the signal processor and a retract mechanism to retract the actuator when the spindle motor speed is unexpectedly much higher or lower than normal speed. The system DSP (Digital Signal Processor) is unaware of such occurrence.

A cardiovascular catheter probe system suitable for electrophysiology mapping and radiofrequency ablation of cardiac tissue comprises a plurality of catheter shafts having a proximal end, a distal handle, and a lumen extending therebetween, wherein a distal portion of the shaft is deflectable and inflatable; the wavy soft distal section is inflatable to conform intimately to the irregular intracardiac tissue surface, wherein conducting electrodes are secured on the hills of said inflatable wavy soft shaft.
Abstract:
A fiber optic detection system comprising an array of fiber optic elements is presented. Each fiber optic element is uniquely encoded using a plurality of discrete ferquencies, digital codes or other encoding techniques. When a break occurs in one or more fiber optic elements, the missing light frequencies or digital codes are sensed, thereby indicating the break. Preferably, the fiber optic elements are arranged in a grid pattern so that precise location of the break can be made.
Abstract:
Biocompatible microparticles include an ophthalmically active cyclic lipid component and a biodegradable polymer that is effective, when placed into the subconjunctival space, in facilitating release of the cyclic lipid component into the anterior and posterior segments of an eye for an extended period of time. The cyclic lipid component can be associated with a biodegradable polymer matrix, such as a matrix of a two biodegradable polymers. Or, the cyclic lipid component can be encapsulated by the polymeric component. The present microparticles include oil-in-water emulsified microparticles. The subconjunctivally administered microparticles can be used to treat or to reduce at least one symptom of an ocular condition, such as glaucoma or age related macular degeneration.
