Abstract:
A light collimating and diffusing film and a method for making the film are provided. The film includes a plastic layer having a first side and a second side opposite the first side and at least a first peripheral edge. The first side has a first textured surface, wherein between 7 to 20 percent of slope angles on the first textured surface proximate a first axis has a value between zero and five degrees. The first axis is substantially parallel to the first peripheral edge. The plastic layer collimates light propagating therethrough.
Abstract:
Hepatic diseases can be prevented or treated by administering an isoprenylamine derivative represented by the general formula (II) ##STR1## [wherein n represents an integer of 4-12, m represents an integer of 0-3, Ar represents a phenyl group, a furyl group, a thienyl group or a pyridyl group, said group being optionally substituted with one or more of an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms, and alkoxy group of 1-4 carbon atoms, a methylenedioxy group, a hydroxy group or a halogen atom, and R represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms] or a pharmacologically acceptable salt thereof at a daily dose of 0.01-500 .mu.g/kg.A lipid emulsion of the compound (II) is particularly useful and can be administered at a remarkably lowered dose as compared with other pharmaceutical preparations.
Abstract:
The method and apparatus records/reproduces multiple kinds of digital signals having different data amounts per unit time on a recording medium. The multiple kinds of digital signals are organized into a plurality of blocks. At least two of the multiple kinds of digital signals are organized into blocks having different lengths. A synchronizing signal is appended to each of the plurality of blocks. The synchronizing signal identifies a length of each of the plurality of blocks. This method an apparatus increase the recording rate, and is therefore suitable for higher density recording. In reproduction, synchronization protection is performed for variable synchronization periods based on the length of the blocks being reproduced.

Abstract:
In one embodiment a film can comprises a surface comprising a plurality of prism structures. Each prism structure has a lateral modulation in the w direction of less than or equal to ±20% of an average pitch of the prism structures. The plurality of prism structures can have a variation in the w direction of prism peak height that is discrete and/or continuous. In one embodiment, a method for making a film can comprise forming a plurality of prism structures on a surface. The plurality of prism structures can have a lateral modulation in the w direction of less than or equal to ±20% of an average pitch of the prism structures, and wherein the plurality of prism structures have a variation in the w direction of prism peak height that is discrete and/or continuous.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a method comprising illuminating a microstructured prism, or linear array of prisms of a prism sheet with an incident beam. The method further comprises making measurements of the refracted image of the beam on a measuring device to measure the distance disposed on an opposing side of the prism sheet from the side that the light beam is incident upon. Measurement of two angles of the refracted images of the beam on the ruled scale, measured twice, illuminating the sample at different angles are used in an equation to simultaneously provide the apex angle, the skew angle and the refractive index of the prism sheet.

Abstract:
A data conversion method, wherein a sequence of first r-bit datawords is divided into groups of x bits where x is the least common multiple of r and m, an arbitrary first dataword selected from x/r groups of first datawords is divided into x/m, an m-bit second dataword is formed by appending r/(x/m)-bit data, obtained by dividing the first dataword into x/m, to the LSB or MSB side of one or other of the non-divided first datawords, and the word-converted m-bit second dataword is converted to an n-bit codeword (m
Abstract:
M sets of digital data obtained by adding a control bit to an n-bit data string are collected to generate 2.sup.m kinds of m(n+1)-bit data strings, with I-NRZI modulation being applied to these data strings to generate m kinds of I-NRZI modulated data strings and the I-NRZI modulated data strings are subject to spectrum analysis for the desired frequency components, in order to supply one of the I-NRZI modulated data strings as a recording signal based on the result of the spectrum analysis.
