Abstract:
Method for activation of chromium containing catalyst precursor for polymerization and improved polymerization catalyst resulting The instant invention relates to an activation of a polymerization catalyst precursor by heat treatment comprising a support material and a catalyst precursor deposited thereon in a fluidized bed activator and to the use of the activated polymerization catalyst in the manufacture of polyolefins. The Method is performed in a cylindrical activator (1) arranged vertically comprising tubular activator walls, a fluidization gas inlet (2) near the bottom, a fluidization gas outlet (3) near the top and a heat exchange jacket (4) outside the tubular activator walls, wherein the heating jacket covers the complete outer surface of the walls of the activator. The catalyst prepared by that method is improved with respect to its minor content of impurities and causes less interruptions during gas-phase polymerization or slurry polymerization either in stirred vessel or loop.
Abstract:
A novel adhesive composition suitable for composing multilayered coatings onto large, industrial equipment such as pipeline tubes is devised. The composition is a blend based on a polyethylene which determines the blend's favorable properties, which polyethylene itself can be used further in coating cables and for producing mouldings, especially rotomoulded articles.

The inlet chamber (4) has a dividing wall (10) which is arranged essentially parallel to the filter medium (9) and separates the inlet chamber (4) into an inflow region (4a), which is connected to the gas inlet (6), and a filter region (4b) in which the filter medium is located and has an upper opening and a lower opening which are dimensioned so that from 60 to 90% of the volume flow flows through the upper opening so that flow along the filter medium (9) from the top downward results.
Abstract:
A continuous vapor-phase fluidized-bed process for the preparation of ethylene homopolymers and copolymers having a density of from 0.87 to 0.97 g/cm3 in which ethylene or mixtures of ethylene and C3-C8 a-monoolefins are (co)polymerized in the presence of a supported chromium catalyst in the polymerization zone of a vapor-phase fluidized-bed reactor under pressures ranging from 1 to 100 bar and at temperatures ranging from 30° to 125° C. in the vapor phase in an agitated bed of bulk material comprising particulate polymer, the resultant heat of polymerization is removed by cooling the recirculated reactor gas and the resulting (co)polymer is removed from the vapor-phase fluidized-bed reactor, wherein, for the preparation of a (co)polymer of a specific density d, the (co)polymerization is carried out at a temperature which is in a range restricted by an upper envelope defined by equation I T H = 171 + 6 d ′ 0.84 - d ′ ( I ) and a lower envelope defined by equation II T L = 173 + 7.3 d ′ 0.837 - d ′ , ( II ) in which the variables have the following meanings: TH is the highest reaction temperature in ° C.; TL is the lowest reaction temperature in ° C.; d′ is the numerical value of the density d of the (co)polymer to be synthesized.
