Abstract:
A compound comprising a blend of polypropylene with the reaction of a functionalized polypropylene and polyether amine in which the polyetheramine is grafted into the functionalized polypropylene in a customary mixing apparatus is disclosed. The blend may include an elastomer such as EP rubber and/or a filler such as glass. A process for producing the reaction product of the functionalized polypropylene and the polyether amine by melting with polypropylene in a customary mixing apparatus is also disclosed. Blends of the present invention are advantageously useful to prepare paintable automotive body parts.
Abstract:
The unitary cylinder liner incorporating a water jacket is vertically cast as a one piece unit. The water jacket is draftless, allowing water to circulate therethrough more efficiently, increasing cooling capabilities. Such vertical one piece casting is made possible by the novel two piece core which eliminates the need for welding of metal bands onto an outer surface of the liner to produce the water jacker thereof. A novel method of vertical casting is also provided by use of the two piece core.
Abstract:
A forming machine to form a sheet of metal to an "S" bend having clamps to clamp the sheet metal, one of the clamps having an anvil about which the sheet metal is folded by a rotatable forming bar to form a first channel and partially form a second channel in the sheet metal after which the rotatable bar is moved clear and a nose on a further former further folds the second channel facing in the opposite direction to the first channel.
Abstract:
A casing comprising a shell which has a transverse cross section in the form of an inverted square bottom "U". The bottom panel closes a part of the space between the ends of the arm of the "U" opposite to the top of the "U" and a back panel closes part of the space between the arms of the shell. The bottom panel and back panel do not extend to their common boundaries and a compartment panel is engaged between the back panel and the bottom panel.
Abstract:
A device for opening a door on an airplane to expose a refueling receptacle having latches for connection to a fueling nozzle deployed from a tanker airplane so that the airplane may be refueled in flight. The device has a hydraulic actuator for opening and closing the door, first valve means for controlling the first actuator, a second valve means for controlling another hydraulic actuator that locks and releases the latches, a spring for opening the door when there is a failure in the supply of pressure fluid for the first actuator, and a means to prevent closing of the door before the latches are released from the nozzle.
Abstract:
A light fitting is provided with a first connector piece arranged to support a light and provide power thereto, an input connected to a power source and arranged to provide power permanently to an output comprising a primary coil, and a transmitter operable to transmit a switch signal. A light is provided comprising a sealed light housing, a light source, a back-up battery, a controller and a second connector piece having a secondary coil and a receiver. The receiver receives the switch signal and the controller controls power delivery to the light source in response to the switch signal received by the receiver thereby to turn the light on and off. The light fitting and the light are arranged to present the primary coil and the secondary coil for inductive coupling therebetween and to present the transmitter and the receiver for wireless communication therebetween.

Abstract:
The combination hauler for hauling a vehicle and a loaded boat trailer comprises a wheeled horizontal flatbed to which a horizontal trailer engaging cradle is pivotably mounted. The cradle pivots from a predetermined elevated position above a front end of the flatbed to a lowered position where the cradle rests on a rear end portion of and extends beyond a rear end of the flatbed. The cradle at all times maintains a position parallel to the flatbed.

Abstract:
An amine terminated random copolymer containing ethylene oxy/propylene oxy segments may be reacted with hexamethylene diamine and adipic acid monomers to make improved poly(etheramide) segmented block copolymers. Ordinarily, poly(propylene glycol) diamines tend to phase separate under these conditions and polyamide-6,6 could not be so modified. The resultant poly(etheramide) segmented block copolymer has improved impact performance, reduced modulus and lower glass transition as contrasted with the non-modified polyamide-6,6.
