Abstract:
A semiconductor-based structure includes a substrate layer, a compressively strained semiconductor layer adjacent to the substrate layer to provide a channel for a component, and a tensilely strained semiconductor layer disposed between the substrate layer and the compressively strained semiconductor layer. A method for making an electronic device includes providing, on a strain-inducing substrate, a first tensilely strained layer, forming a compressively strained layer on the first tensilely strained layer, and forming a second tensilely strained layer on the compressively strained layer. The first and second tensilely strained layers can be formed of silicon, and the compressively strained layer can be formed of silicon and germanium.

Enhanced algorithms are provided for finding circuit edit locations which utilize automated conversions from circuit schematic to physical layout design. The enhanced algorithms further include a user interface enabling the user to provide preferences, limitations, and constraints in order to bias the search to be conducted, as well as using the provided design data in order to locate the best positions for particular edit schemes, including net cuts and net joins.
Abstract:
A method of increasing the quantity of input/output (I/O) decode ranges using system management interrupts (SMI) traps is disclosed. In one aspect, the present disclosure teaches a method of increasing the quantity of I/O decode ranges using SMI traps in a chipset including generating a system management interrupt (SMI) based on information causing access to an I/O address that triggers a SMI trap. The I/O address operably received at the chipset via a bus. The method further including automatically reprogramming a decode register in the chipset such that the I/O address forwards the information to a device on the bus.
Abstract:
A method for synchronizing processors during a system management interrupt caused from a memory hot plug event in multiple processor systems is disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for synchronizing processors during an assertion of a system management interrupt (SMI) in an information handling system including, for each processor, identifying whether the processor is an interrupt handling processor assigned to perform processing tasks necessary for resolving the SMI or a non-interrupt handling processor not assigned to perform the processing tasks necessary for resolving the SMI. The method further includes creating a task structure operable to cause non-interrupt handling processors to perform at least one task for each interrupt handling processor. The method further includes automatically performing the at least one task during the SMI for each non-interrupt handling processor.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for defining a circuit operation, such as a charged particle beam operation to perform a circuit edit and define a probe point. Circuit operation definition is performed in a front-end environment with access to integrated circuit computer aided design tools providing logic level and layout level information concerning the integrated circuit. The front-end environment incorporates circuit operation optimization methods to identify optimal locations for a circuit operation. A back-end environment, such as a charged particle tool computing platform, is adapted to receive one or more files, which may include a truncated layout file with circuit operation location information, for use in further defining a circuit operation and/or performing the circuit operation.

Abstract:
Systems and methods associated with subscription-based electronic messaging are described. A method includes obtaining registration information associated with a user who has subscribed to receive electronic messages from a subscription-based messaging service. The registration information includes an electronic address of the user and a private token that is known to the user and to the subscription-based messaging service. The method includes embedding the private token in an electronic message associated with the subscription-based messaging service, and such inclusion of the private token may indicate to the user that the electronic message is from a legitimate sender associated with the subscription-based messaging service. The method also includes sending the electronic message to the electronic address of the user.
Abstract:
Devices and methods for power management during media playback are provided. For example, an electronic device according to an embodiment may include storage, a decoder, an output buffer, and data processing circuitry. The storage may store compressed media data that may be decoded by the decoder. The output buffer may store the decoded media data before the decoded media data is played out. The data processing circuitry configured may measure a fullness of the output buffer and may set an operating frequency of the storage, the decoder, the output buffer, or the data processing circuitry, or a combination thereof, depending on a format of the compressed media data and the fullness of the output buffer.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for securely executing a plurality of actions requiring elevated privilege using less than a corresponding plurality of prompts for privilege elevation, and in some embodiments, only a single prompt for privilege elevation, comprising: receiving a request to perform a first action requiring an elevated privilege; acquiring the elevated privilege to perform the first action; executing the first action, wherein the first action is executed based on the elevated privilege; receiving a request to perform a second action requiring an elevated privilege; and executing the second action using the elevated privilege acquired for the first action.
