Abstract:
The invention relates to an alloy produced by powder metallurgy and having a non-amorphous matrix, the alloy consists of in weight % (wt. %): C 0-2.5 Si 0-2.5 Mn 0-15 Cr 0-25 Mo 4-35 B 0.2-2.8 optional elements, balance Fe and/or Ni apart from impurities, wherein the alloy comprises 3-35 volume % hard phase particles, the hard phase particles comprises at least one of borides, nitrides, carbides and/or combinations thereof, at least 90% of the hard phase particles have a size of less than 5 μm and at least 50% of the hard phase particles have a size in the range of 0.3-3 μm.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a cold work tool steel. The steel comprises the following main components (in wt. %): C 0.5-2, N 1.3-3, Si 0.05-1.2, Mn 0.05-1, Cr 2.5-5.5, Mo 0.8-2.2, V 6-18, with a balance of optional elements, iron, and impurities.
Abstract:
A low-chromium hot-work tool steel consisting of (in wt-%): C 0.08-0.40, N 0.015-0.30, C+N 0.30-0.50, Cr 1-4, Mo 1.5-3, V 0.8-1.3, Mn 0.5-2, Si 0.1-0.5, optionally Ni
Abstract:
Apparatus suitable for injecting fluids, particularly suspensions of solids in gases, below the surface of a molten metal, e.g. in emulsion metallurgy, comprises a converter having a tuyere for injecting the fluid below the surface of the molten metal, and a heating zone, spaced away from the converter but in liquid communication with the converter at a level below the surface of the molten metal, the heating zone having a thinner lining than the converter and being heated by electric induction heating so that a temperature gradient can be set up between the heating zone and the converter to maintain the temperature of the molten metal in the converter. The apparatus can be used for desulphurisation or decarburization of steel, the reduction of reducible metal oxides by emulsion reduction, the introduction of alloying components or the introduction of endothermally reacting gases into molten metals.
Abstract:
In a process for decarburising stainless steel by blowing the molten steel with a mixture of oxygen together with steam and/or ammonia, blockage of gas inlet is avoided by passing the mixture of oxygen together with steam and/or ammonia through the inner section of a tuyere comprising at least two coaxial pipes and passing through the outermost section of the tuyere a gas e.g. oxygen and steam or oxygen and nitrogen, which undergoes an exothermal reaction when it contacts the molten alloy.
Abstract:
A conveyor is conveying ballbearing balls or the like without mutual contact through an apparatus for surface treatment as degreasing of the balls wtih a solvent. The conveyor comprises several stationary and movable support members, the latter being arranged between the stationary members and each member having surface which is inclining downwardly in the direction of transport. At least one of the movable support members is pivotably mounted so that its surface can alter its inclination to incline upwardly in the direction of transport. Spray guns are spraying solvent over a ball, which is rolling back and forth on the surface of the pivotably mounted member and the ball is thus treated on all sides.
Abstract:
There is provided a method of producing stainless, chromiumsteel sheet or strip having a high resistance to corrosion and an improved hardness, and which has a relatively high yield point / ultimate strength ratio in an unhardened state, the starting material used in the method being one of substantially a pearlite structure and in which the material is heated and worked at specific temperatures so as to break down the pearlite structure and transform said structure to one comprising finely-divided spheroidized carbides in a ferritic matrix.
