摘要: Systems, instruments, and methods for operating a surgical instrument are disclosed. The instrument may include a drive shaft axially aligned with a central axis of the surgical instrument. The drive shaft may include a first mating end and be rotatably supported within a drive housing having a contoured interior supporting the first mating end. The instrument may include an outer shaft having an outer receiver interface configured to selectively couple and uncouple to a connecting portion of a receiver. The instrument may also include a plunger that is axially aligned with the central axis and having a second mating end disposed within the contoured interior of the drive housing. In various embodiments, the second mating end may be axially aligned with and in contact with the first mating end. In various embodiments, the plunger may be configured to linearly translate along the central axis upon rotation of the drive shaft.

摘要: A spinal implant includes a first member having an arcuate portion and a second member having an arcuate portion. The first member is connected with a first portion of vertebrae and the second member is connected with a second portion of vertebrae such that the second portion of vertebrae is disposed at a first angle relative to the first portion of vertebrae in a sagittal plane of the vertebrae. A ratchet is disposed with the members such that the first member is incrementally movable relative to the second member from the first angle to a selected angle of the second portion relative to the first portion in the sagittal plane. Systems, implants and methods are disclosed.

摘要: Expandable spinal implants, systems and methods are disclosed. An expandable spinal implant may include a first endplate, a second endplate, and a moving mechanism that is operably coupled to the first and second endplates. The moving mechanism may include a wedge, a first sliding frame and a second sliding frame disposed on opposite sides of the wedge, a screw guide housing a rotatable first set screw and a rotatable second set screw opposite the first set screw. The first set screw may be operably coupled to the second sliding frame and the second set screw may be operably coupled to the wedge. The moving mechanism may operably adjust a spacing between the first and second endplates upon simultaneous rotation of the first and second set screws and operably adjust an angle of inclination between the first and second endplates upon translating the first set screw or second set screw.

摘要: Additive-manufacturing systems for forming non-woven fibrous implants are disclosed. Additive-manufacturing systems may include a robotic subsystem having scanning and imaging equipment configured to scan a patient's anatomy, and an armature including at least one dispensing nozzle configured to selectively dispense at least one material. The system may further include a controller apparatus configured to send a control signal to control the scanning and imaging equipment to determine a target alignment of a patient's spine, and develop an additive-manufactured printing plan including an additive-manufactured material selection plan based on the target alignment of the patient's spine. The controller may execute the additive-manufactured printing plan to: dispense the at least one material to form a non-woven fibrous component. The non-woven fibrous component may define a plurality of randomly oriented fibers further defining a plurality of open pore spaces between adjacent fibers configured to facilitate boney ingrowth between adjacent fibers.

摘要: The present disclosure provides for spinal implants deployable between a contracted position and an expanded position. The spinal implant may include an anterior endplate, a superior endplate, and an inferior endplate operably coupled to a moving mechanism. The first endplate and a second endplate each include at least one bone screw relief. The moving mechanism may include first and second trolleys configured to act against corresponding ramps. The moving mechanism may further include a first set screw and a second set screw opposite the first set screw configured to operably adjust a spacing between the first and second endplates upon simultaneous rotation of the first and second set screws along a rotation axis, and may also operably adjust an angle of inclination between the first and second endplates upon rotating either one of the first set screw and second set screw along the rotation axis.

摘要: A method of making an electron beam irradiated osteoinductive implant is provided. The method comprises exposing an osteoinductive implant containing demineralized bone matrix (DBM) fibers to electron beam radiation at a dose of from about 10 kilograys to 100 kilograys for a period of time. The electron beam irradiation reduces microorganisms in the osteoinductive implant, and the electron beam irradiated osteoinductive implant retains osteoinductive properties. Methods of implantation and an irradiated osteoinductive implant are also disclosed.
