Abstract:
The present invention provides an intelligent call processor, an intelligent switching node and an intelligent communications network for use in a communications system. The intelligent call processor comprises a logical platform having a plurality of functions wherein at least one of the functions is service processing function, at least one of the functions is call processing, and at least one of the functions is facility processing, and a processor for executing the plurality of functions. The intelligent switching node comprises an intelligent call processor and, a resource complex communicably linked to the intelligent call processor and logically separated from the intelligent call processor. The intelligent communications network comprises a plurality of intelligent distributed network nodes, a network management system for monitoring and controlling a wide area network and the plurality of intelligent switching nodes, and the wide area network interconnecting the plurality of intelligent distributed network nodes and the network management system.
Abstract:
System and methodology for providing real-time call processing services received at a switch in an intelligent network having one or more service nodes having originating switches for receiving a call event. The system includes a platform-independent communication system for enabling communication between object instances executing at service nodes in the intelligent network. An operating system agent object instance executing in an execution environment associated with an originating switch communicates call origination information corresponding to a call event received at the switch to one or more object instances executing in an execution environment provided at a service node in the network; the object instances including a line object instance for maintaining the state of a communications line associated with a call origination, and, a service object implementing methods for performing a service according to a customer request. A first database storage device accessible by the service object provides call routing information according to a customer's subscription. A second database storage device is accessible by the service object to provide a corresponding terminating switch location address at a node in the network for the call based on the retrieved call routing information. The platform-independent communication system communicates call routing commands between the service object and at least the line object instance, for enabling call connection between originating and terminating switches independent of their location in the network.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing an addition to the Session Initiation Protocol is disclosed. The addition is a new field header, preferably entitled nullFeaturenull, that is added to the REGISTER message. This field would contain control information for various feature services, like the Do Not Disturb feature and other services provided by traditional PBX systems.
Abstract:
A system for providing services in a communications network includes a service processing function, a universal directory function, and a nodal resource manager. The service processing function receives service requests, formulates requests for interworking functions based upon service requests, and formulates resource requests based upon service requests and interworking functions. The universal directory function receives addresses from the service processing function and returns interworking functions based upon addresses. The nodal resource manager receives resource requests and allocates resources to the service processing function in response to resource requests. The nodal resource manager maintains a resource database that includes an entry corresponding to each network resource managed by the nodal resource manager.
Abstract:
A probing router is used at a source site of a virtual private network. In-band probing operations are performed by components within the probing router, using processing resources available from a router engine portion of the probing router. In this way, changes in the network and service level agreement statistic collection processes may be quickly and easily accommodated within the probing router. Furthermore, the probing router communicates the probe message through an in-band communication channel so as to provide a direct measurement of service level data for the channel used for communicating information between the source site and a destination site.
Abstract:
A media translator is disclosed for converting among speech signals and textual information, such as between telephony speech signals and textual information communicated via a messaging communications system.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing inmate security threat group information includes correlating inmate identification records from a plurality of correctional facilities in a central database with call detail records from inmate telephone activities together with security threat group data comprising inmate affiliations and telephone numbers associated with security threats and security threat groups.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for capturing call events and other information in a platform independent way. The method includes generating call event records in response to a SIP call events. A call event file is created that includes all the call event records collected by a server over a predetermined period of time. The call event file is an XML document that includes generic, uniformly formatted records that can be read by any network device equipped with an XML parser. XML documents include embedded instructions that enable a receiving computer to decode the records without needing a special proprietary interface.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for remote configuration of alert mode parameters of personal communication devices and, in particular, remote override of a silent or inaudible alert mode of the PCD.
