Abstract:
Systems and methods for optimizing body and object interactions are provided. Based on obtained contact pressure maps and coefficient of friction (COF) maps at a contact interface where at least a portion of a body is in physical contact with a surface of an object, friction force maps can be determined, which can be used to optimize body and object interactions.
Abstract:
A polymeric netting includes polymeric strands and first and second polymeric ribbons. The first and second ribbons each independently have a height-to-width aspect ratio of at least three to one and a major surface that is intermittently bonded to a polymeric strand, with first and second edges symmetrically disposed on opposite sides of a center line bisecting the major surface. The netting has first and second opposing major surfaces transverse to the major surfaces of the first and second ribbons. The first major surface of the netting includes the first edges of the first ribbons, and the second major surface includes the second edges of the second ribbons. The first ribbons do not extend to the second major surface, and the second ribbons do not extend to the first major surface. Articles including the netting, an extrusion die, and a method useful for making the netting are also disclosed.
Abstract:
An abrasive article is provided that has a backing having opposed first and second major surfaces, an abrasive layer disposed on the first major surface, and a plurality of protrusions extending outwardly from the second major surface. The protrusions comprise a polymer having a Shore A hardness ranging from 5 to 90. These articles provide an alternative sanding solution enabling abrasive articles lacking an attachment layer to be handled effectively and efficiently, providing for a technically superior abrasive sheet on the marketplace that does not use or require an attachment layer.
Abstract:
Tapes including an elastomeric backing layer having two major surfaces, wherein the backing layer includes a high temperature resistant elastomer (e.g., a high consistency silicone rubber elastomer), and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer, wherein the pressure sensitive adhesive layer comprises a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive.
Abstract:
Curable epoxy/thiol resin compositions, methods of curing, methods of bonding substrates, and tapes including the cured polymeric material, wherein the curable epoxy/thiol resin composition includes: an epoxy resin component comprising an epoxy resin having at least two epoxide groups per molecule; a thiol component comprising a polythiol compound having at least two primary thiol groups; a silane-functionalized adhesion promoter; a nitrogen-containing catalyst for curing the epoxy resin; and optionally a cure inhibitor.
Abstract:
There is provided an article comprising at least a first surface having: (a) a first binder layer; (b) a plurality of transparent microspheres at least partially embedded in the first binder layer; wherein the transparent microspheres have refractive indices that are less than a refractive index of the first binder layer, wherein the plurality of transparent microspheres have an average diameter of at least 5 μm. There is also provided a transfer article comprising: (a) a transfer carrier, the transfer carrier comprising: (i) a support layer; and (ii) a thermoplastic release layer bonded to the support layer; (b) a layer of a plurality of transparent microspheres, formed on a side of the thermoplastic transparent microsphere release layer opposite the support layer, wherein the plurality of transparent microspheres have refractive indices of below about 1.490.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to a flashing tape used in construction applications to seal out moisture, and methods of using the same. The tape constructions disclosed include a viscoelastic core layer and at least one elastomeric skin layer, and may further contain a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive to attach the flashing tape to a substrate.
