Abstract: A touch screen is disclosed. A plurality of common electrodes can be configured to operate as display circuitry during a display phase, and to operate as touch sensing circuitry during a touch sensing phase. The plurality of common electrodes can include a first common electrode associated with a first display pixel, and a second common electrode associated with a second display pixel. Circuitry can be configured to update the first display pixel at a first time while driving the first common electrode but not the second common electrode, and update the second display pixel at a second time, after the first time, while driving the second common electrode but not the first common electrode. In some examples, the circuitry can be configured to leave the second common electrode floating while driving the first common electrode, and leave the first common electrode floating while driving the second common electrode.

Abstract: An electronic device may include a display for displaying image content to a user and dynamic image stabilization circuitry for dynamically compensating the image content if the device is moving unpredictably to help keep the image content aligned with the user's gaze. The electronic device may include sensors for detecting the displacement of the device. The dynamic image stabilization circuitry may include a usage scenario detection circuit and a content displacement compensation calculation circuit. The usage scenario detection circuit receives data from the sensors and infers a usage scenario based on the sensor data. The content displacement compensation calculation circuit uses the inferred usage scenario to compute a displacement amount by which to adjust image content. When motion stops, the image content may gradually drift back to the center of the display.

Abstract: Methods and systems for compensating for VCOM variations include determining a voltage change in pixels between frames to be displayed on an electronic display. Based on the determined voltage change, VCOM variation is calculated based on coupling the VCOM to one or more data lines of the electronic display. VCOM compensation is determined and applied to offset for the VCOM variation. Using the VCOM offset, subsequent pixel content for the one or more pixels is written using the compensated VCOM.

Abstract: A display may have curved edges such as rounded corners. Pixels in the display may be controlled so that the active area of the display has the desired curved edge shape. In order to maximize the apparent smoothness of the curved edge, the display may include circuitry that dims some of the pixels based on their location relative to a spline for the curved edge. The display circuitry may include a multiplication circuit that receives image data as a first input and dimming factors from a gain table as a second input. The image data may include a brightness level for each pixel in the array of pixels. The multiplication circuit may multiply the brightness level for each pixel by its respective dimming factor. This modified image data may then be supplied to the imaging pixels using display driver circuitry.

Abstract: An electronic device may generate content that is to be displayed on a display. The display may have an array of liquid crystal display pixels for displaying image frames of the content. The image frames may be displayed with positive and negative polarities to help reduce charge accumulation effects. A charge accumulation tracker may analyze the image frames to determine when there is a risk of excess charge accumulation. The charge accumulation tracker may analyze information on gray levels, frame duration, and frame polarity. The charge accumulation tracker may compute a charge accumulation metric for entire image frames or may process subregions of each frame separately. When subregions are processed separately, each subregion may be individually monitored for a risk of excess charge accumulation.
