Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to network slice selector (NSS). In one embodiment, for example, an evolved node B (cNB) may include a processor circuit, and an NSS for execution by the processor circuit to allocate a network slice (NS) to a user equipment (UE). The NS may comprise one or more virtual network function(s) (VNF). In one implementation, a VNF takes on the responsibility of handing specific network functions run on one or more virtual machines (VM) associated with hardware networking infrastructures, such as routers, switches, etc. Individual VNFs may be combined or connected together to provide a complete networking communication service for UEs. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: Techniques for coordinated application of wireless network selection and traffic routing rules are described. In one embodiment, for example, user equipment (UE) may comprise at least on radio frequency (RF) transceiver, at least one RF antenna, and logic at least a portion of which is in hardware, the logic to process a received radio resource control (RRC) message comprising radio access network (RAN) assistance information, evaluate a threshold condition of an access network discovery and selection function (ANDSF) management object (MO) routing policy based on an access threshold comprised in the RAN assistance information and a corresponding measurement, and apply the ANDSF MO routing policy to route internet protocol (IP) traffic based on the evaluation of the threshold condition. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: Described herein are systems, apparatuses, and processes for obtaining data for a specific PDN connection of a cellular network. A UE executes one or more applications utilizing one or more PDN connections of a cellular network. A TE generates an AT command for an MT, the AT command comprising a request for data for a specific PDN connection that can be offloaded from the cellular network to a non-cellular network, assistance data for determining offloading of traffic, and cellular signal measurements. The TE receives an AT command response, corresponding to the AT command, comprising data of whether the specific PDN connection can be offloaded, offload assistance data, and/or cellular network measurement data. The TE may receive unsolicited result codes when offloadablity of a PDN connection changes, offload assistance data changes, or when cellular signal measurements meet offload assistance criteria.

A geographically-limited, operator-independent mapping table is used that maps between groups of V2X applications each associated with a different application category and a different RAT preferred for the V2X application category. Each grouping is based on fulfillment of one or more KPIs for the associated V2X application category. Multiple RATs are prioritized if able to fulfill the KPIs. The mapping table is modified based on the RATs supported by the V2X UE. Carrier aggregation is used when simultaneous transmission on different RATs is desired.

Abstract: Diameter based interfaces are configured to enable restriction of a coverage enhancement feature or mode. A service capability exposure function (SCEF) communicates through a Diameter based interface (e.g., S6t interface) with an HSS to control whether a user equipment (UE) is restricted from operation in an enhanced coverage mode. The SCEF may process an enhanced coverage request. In response, the SCEF generates a configuration information request (CIR) for a home subscriber server (HSS). The CIR may include an AVP to query enhanced coverage restrictions for the UE. The SCEF may also process a configuration information answer (CIA) from the HSS. The CIA may include an enhanced-coverage-restriction-data AVP indicating current settings of the enhanced coverage restrictions for the UE.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media are provided for a user equipment (UE) of a wireless communication system. The UE includes a processor circuitry, and radio front end circuitry coupled to the processor circuitry. The processor circuitry is configured to determine and indicate, to a core network via a radio access network (RAN), one or more cellular internet of things (CIoT) features that are required by the UE and CIoT network behavior expected from the core network to support the one or more CIoT features that are required by the UE. The processor circuitry is configured to select either an enhanced packet core (EPC) or a 5G core (5GC) to establish a wireless connection with the core network, based on a first set of CIoT features supported by the EPC and a second set of CIoT features supported by the 5GC received from the core network.
