Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to a slurry polymerization process for the preparation of polyethylene in the presence of a Ziegler catalyst and aluminum alkyl co-catalyst in at least one polymerization reactor, in which process suspension medium comprising a concentration of aluminum alkyl co-catalyst is recycled to the polymerization, the concentration of aluminum alkyl co-catalyst in the recycled suspension medium is determined; and the amount of fresh aluminum alkyl co-catalyst fed to the polymerization is adjusted to maintain a targeted aluminum alkyl co-catalyst concentration in the recycled suspension medium.

Abstract: A polyethylene composition made from or containing a polyethylene, having the following features: 1) a density from about 0.930 to about 0.945 g/cm3, determined according to ISO 1183 at 23° C.; 2) a ratio of MIF/MIP from about 30 to about 55; 3) a MIF from about 3 to about 25 g/10 min.; 4) a Mz equal to or greater than about 1,500,000 g/mol; and 5) a long-chain branching index, LCBI, equal to or lower than about 0.55, wherein the LCBI is the ratio of the measured mean-square radius of gyration Rg, measured by GPC-MALLS, to the mean-square radius of gyration for a linear PE having about the same molecular weight of 1,000,000 g/mol.

Abstract: A process for polymerizing olefins in at least two serially connected gas-phase polymerization reactors, the process for transferring polyolefin particles from a first gas-phase polymerization reactor to a second gas-phase polymerization reactor comprising the steps of: a) discharging polyolefin particles into a separation chamber being at a lower pressure than the pressure in the first reactor; b) transferring the polyolefin particles within the separation chamber into a lower part which contains a bed of polyolefin particles which moves from top to bottom of this part of the separation chamber and into which a fluid is introduced so that an upward fluid stream is induced, c) withdrawing polyolefin particles from the lower end and transferring them to one of at least two lock hoppers working intermittently in parallel; and d) simultaneously pressurizing another of the at least two lock hoppers working intermittently by means of a gas comprising reaction gas coming from the second reactor.

Abstract: A process for starting a multizone circulating reactor containing no polyolefin particles, comprising the steps of conveying gas through the reactor and the gas recycle line, feeding a particulate material comprising a polymerization catalyst and optionally polyolefin into the reactor, controlling the gas flow in a vertical reactor zone equipped with a throttling valve at the bottom so that the upwards gas velocity in the bottom part of this reaction zone is lower than the terminal free-fall velocity of the particulate material fed into the reactor, and, after the weight of the particulate polyolefin in this reactor zone is higher than the drag force of the upward moving gas, controlling the circulation rate of the polymer particles within the multizone circulating reactor by adjusting the opening of the throttling valve and adjusting the flow rate of a dosing gas.
