摘要: A signal processing circuit (10) generates a bias signal (27) that is used for biasing a comparator (26). An input signal (14) is compared to the bias signal (27) in order to reconstruct the input signal (14) on an output of the comparator. The bias signal (27) is generated by selecting the larger of a percent of the input signal (23) or an offset signal (24) that is larger than a minimum value of the input signal.

摘要: An interconnect substrate (116) having a surface (105) with a plurality of electrical tracings (115) disposed thereon. A photonic device (114) having a working portion (118) and having a contact (106) electrically coupled to one of the plurality of electrical tracings (115) disposed on the interconnect substrate (116). A molded optical portion (112) that encapsulates the photonic device (114) is formed. The molded optical portion (112) forms a surface (120). The surface (120) passes light between the photonic device (114) and an optical fiber(103). Alignment of optical fiber 103 is achieved by an alignment apparatus (117) that is formed in the molded optical portion (112).

摘要: An optical read/write head including a cladding layer defining a plurality of parallel, spaced apart optical cores extending therethrough, the cladding layer and cores defining optical input/output surfaces for each optical core and diffraction elements positioned in overlying relationship with the optical input/output surfaces for each optical core. Two rows of the cores being utilized to carry light from sources and the diffraction elements diffracting the light at an angle onto a document, the light reflecting from the document into a third row of cores having diffraction elements that collimate and focus the light onto light detectors.

摘要: A core region (107) with an end (114) and a cladding region (108) is formed. The cladding region (108) surrounds the end (114) of the core region (107) forming a surface (119) having a lens device (102) therein. The end (114) of the core region (107) is positioned with a selected distance (118) from the lens device (102) to the end (114) of the core region (107) of the waveguide (101). A light emitting device (103) having a working portion (104) is mounted on the surface (119) of the cladding region (108) with the working portion (104) of the light emitting device (103) directed over the lens device (102) for collection and focusing of light (109) from the working portion (104) of the light emitting device (103) into the end (114) of the core region (107).

摘要: A method for molding optical waveguides (600) wherein one or more optical cores (230) are molded first with an attached support structure (206). A unitary cladding layer (601) is then molded around the cores (230) and the support structure (206) is removed to provide optical inlet/outlets to the cores (230). The ends of the cores (605) where the support structure (206) is removed may require subsequent polishing.

摘要: A method of coupling an optical fiber to a desired optical input wherein the optical fiber is pre-coated with a magnetic material and then placed in an elongated groove in a base, one end of which groove terminates at the desired optical input. A magnetic field is applied to hold the pre-coated optical fiber firmly in place while it is permanently mounted by some means such as soldering or an adhesive.

摘要: A cellular mobile station including a modem processor and memory. The memory includes instructions for the modem processor to perform layer 1 processor operations, layer 2 processor operations, and layer 3 processor operations. The modem processor executes the instructions to perform processor operations for the cellular mobile station to communication data as per a cellular communications protocol. In one example, the mobile station includes different levels of memory to provide different deterministic access times.
