Abstract: A particulate matter detection sensor has an element part for detecting an amount of PM contained in exhaust gas emitted from an internal combustion engine. A deposition part and at least a pair of detection electrodes are formed on an end surface of the element part. Some of particles of PM is deposited on the deposition part. The pair of detection electrodes are arranged on the deposition part. The particulate matter detection sensor changes its output electrical signal according to variation of electrical properties between the pair of the detection electrodes due to deposition of PM on the deposition part. A concave collection part is formed on the deposition part. The concave collection part has a concaved shape when viewed from the edge surface of the element part.

Abstract: A distance measuring device includes a measuring unit, a controlling unit, and an accessory part. Abstract: An apparatus which detects particulate matter is provided. This apparatus estimates a volume of water inside an exhaust passage using estimation sections. When an estimated volume of water is larger than a water drainage threshold, an element portion is heated using a heater by the first temperature range controller, in a temperature range which resists water-induced cracking independent of a volume of water droplets. If the estimated volume of water is less than a water drainage threshold, the water drainage determination section determines that the water drainage of the exhaust passage is completed. Additionally, if it is estimated that the water drainage is completed, the element portion is heated by a second temperature controller at temperature lower than a starting temperature of combustion of particulate matter and in order to repel water adhered onto the element portion in a water-repellent temperature range for a predetermined period.

Abstract: A sensor element which has a pair of positive and negative detection electrodes disposed on a surface of an insulation body as a detecting portion and a cover body configured to cover an opening of a cylindrical housing. The cover body is provided with gas inlet and outlet holes via which the measuring gas is introduced and discharged. The pair of detection electrodes have a plurality of wire electrodes. The wire electrodes electrically connected to the positive electrode and the wire electrodes electrically connected to the negative electrode are alternately arranged in parallel. Any one of a first insulation layer which is a narrow electrode interval Dn and a second insulation layer which is a wide electrode interval Dw, arranged between adjacent wire electrodes, and the first insulation layer arranged in a center part of the detecting portion.

Abstract: A filter malfunction determination apparatus includes a calculator that calculates, upon determination that a rapid output increase has occurred, an amount of change of a parameter value output from a sensor before and after the rapid output increase. The calculator calculates, based on the calculated amount of change, a correction value for correcting at least one of the parameter value output from the sensor and a malfunction determination threshold. The filter malfunction determination apparatus includes an offset corrector configured to perform, based on the correction value, offset correction of at least one of the parameter value output from the sensor and the malfunction determination threshold after determination that the rapid output increase has occurred.

Abstract: A ranging apparatus is provided which is mountable to a vehicle and includes a transmitter, at least one detector, a light transmissive window, a heater, a snow accumulation condition determiner, a snowfall condition determiner, and a heater controller. The heater works to heat the transmissive window. The snow accumulation condition determiner determines a snow accumulation condition of a surface of the light transmissive window. The snowfall condition determiner determines a snowfall condition around the vehicle. The heater controller works to control energization of the heater depending upon the snow accumulation condition and the snowfall condition. The heater controller stops energizing the heater for a period of time when it is determined that there is neither the snow accumulation on the surface of the light transmissive window nor the snowfall around the vehicle.

Abstract: A drive control device for two semiconductor elements having a transistor structure and a diode structure with a common energization electrode includes: a current detection device outputting a current detection signal of the semiconductor elements; and a first control device outputting a gate drive signal from when a first time period has elapsed from a starting time to when a second time period has elapsed from the starting time, at which an off-command signal is input after it is determined that a current flows through the semiconductor elements in a forward direction of the diode structure during a time period for which an on-command signal is input to the semiconductor elements. Abstract: A gate drive circuit includes a driver for driving a gate of a switching element, a peak voltage detector, and a drive capacity calculator. The peak voltage detector detects a peak voltage at a main terminal of the switching element when the switching element is OFF. The drive capacity calculator calculates a voltage difference value between the detected peak voltage and an allowable voltage value at the main terminal of the switching element, where the allowable voltage is based on the specifications of the switching element. The drive capacity calculator changes a drive capacity of the driver to gradually decrease the difference between the detected peak voltage and the allowable voltage.
