Abstract:
An inductive power system including an inductive power transmitter coupled to a non-conductive medium, and a power cord that electrically couples the transmitter to an AC power source. The inductive power transmitter is configured to emit an electromagnetic field based on the received AC power. There is an inductive power receiver coupled to the non-conductive medium and separated from the transmitter, wherein the receiver is configured to receive the electromagnetic field after it has passed through the non-conductive medium and in response develop power. A power cord electrically couples the developed power to a power sink.
Abstract:
An apparatus for support and display of a sports memorabilia jersey features a body form having an upper body portion with an outline visually resembling a head, neck and shoulders of a human body, and a transparent facial area comprising a facial likeness or team logo of a particular athlete associated with said sports memorabilia jersey. A method of producing such apparatus includes obtaining a facial image of an athlete associated with said memorabilia jersey, obtaining an outline shape of said facial image at a generally life-size scale, producing the body form with the head, neck and shoulder areas, and applying the facial image onto the head area of the body form such that a perimeter shape of the head area of the body form generally conforms to the outline shape of the facial image.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to isolated nucleic acid molecules and polypeptides of thraustochytrid polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) synthases involved in the production of PUFAs, including PUFAs enriched in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), or a combination thereof. The present invention is directed to vectors and host cells comprising the nucleic acid molecules, polypeptides encoded by the nucleic acid molecules, compositions comprising the nucleic acid molecules or polypeptides, and methods of making and uses thereof.
Abstract:
Nerve guides which are formed from three dimensional (3D) arrays of highly aligned electrospun fibers are provided. The electrospun fibers are oriented parallel to the long axis of the guide, and gaps and elongated spaces between the stacked fiber arrays provide channels for directed axonal growth. In some embodiments, the nerve guides also comprise high precision gradients of beneficial substances such as growth factors, which aid in nerve regeneration and growth along the guide.
Abstract:
In an embodiment, a method is provided for tracking a state of a document that is accessible over a computer network. In this method, requests to modify the document are received by way of the computer network. A size of a set of these requests are identified to exceed a threshold size and an identifier that identifies this set of requests is generated. The identifier is then transmitted in a response to the requests by way of the computer network.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to recombinant cells and microorganisms of the phylum Labyrinthulomycota and their use in heterologous protein production. Novel promoter, terminator, and signal sequences for efficient production and, optionally, secretion of polypeptides from recombinant host cells and microorganisms are also encompassed by the present invention.
Abstract:
A security hook includes a shaft with a chain receiving portion disposed at an end. The chain receiving portion has an arm and is configured to receive a chain. A blocking member protrudes from the shaft toward the arm of the chain receiving portion. The blocking member is configured to restrict disengagement of the chain from the chain receiving portion. The blocking member can be tapered to facilitate receiving the chain into engagement with the chain receiving portion. The arm of the chain receiving portion also can be tapered. A second blocking member can extend from the arm.
Abstract:
This disclosure relates to a modified version of cyanovirin-N protein and a transformed Lactobacillus bacterium that is capable of recombinantly expressing this modified protein. Further disclosed are polynucleotide sequence encoding the modified cyanovirin-N protein, expression cassette that allows the expression of the modified protein, and method of make and use of the modified protein as well as the transformed Lactobacillus bacterium. In addition, this disclosure describes two novel promoters originated from L. jensenii, which are capable of directing a high level of gene expression in Lactobacillus bacteria. Also described are an expression cassette comprising one of the novel promoters, a genetically modified Lactobacillus bacterium containing the expression cassette, a method for recombinant gene expression in Lactobacillus bacteria using the novel promoters, and a method for delivery of proteins with desired biological activity to a mucosal surface in a human.
