Abstract: A method includes establishing, by a mobile device in a wireless network, an indirect connection of a first device to a node of the wireless network using the mobile device as an intermediate node for wireless transport and transferring, by the mobile device, data over the indirect connection via a first wireless link comprising a direct device connection between the first device and the mobile device and a second wireless link comprising a direct 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) connection between the mobile device and the wireless network. The indirect connection supports security protection of communications between the node of the wireless network and the first device based at least in part on an active security context maintained within the wireless network for communication via at least one messaging protocol layer with at least the first device.

Abstract: A method for transmitting feedback includes receiving feedback configuration information for explicit channel feedback for a plurality of transmit beam-receive beam combinations (TRBCs) between the user device and transmit-receive points (TRPs) of a multi-point set associated with the user device, generating the explicit channel feedback for the plurality of TRBCs, generating at least one modified uplink resource for each TRP in a subset of the TRPs of the multi-point set, the modified uplink resources are generated in accordance with the feedback configuration information, the modified uplink resources are configured to convey the explicit channel feedback to the subset of TRPs of the multi-point set, and transmitting the modified uplink resources to the subset of the TRPs of the multi-point set, where the at least one modified uplink resource associated with a TRP in the subset of the TRPs is transmitted to the TRP using a single TRBC.

Abstract: A method for operating a first distributed unit (DU) includes participating in a link layer context transfer with a second DU, establishing a user data path for a mobile device, the user data path connecting the mobile device with a centralized unit (CU) including a radio control protocol entity communicating with the mobile device, and storing first user data for the mobile device received from the CU and second user data for the mobile device received from the second DU. The method includes establishing a connection with the mobile device, sending the first user data and the second user data to the mobile device, and adapting the link layer context to operate in the first DU for exchanging data between the CU and the mobile device, wherein adapting the link layer context includes associating an uppermost protocol layer of the first DU with a lowest protocol layer of the CU.
