    Abstract: An electric drive unit for powering a load, e.g., road wheels of a motor vehicle, includes a housing having a floor section separating the housing into upper and lower chambers. The floor section defines an elongated drain opening, drain holes, and an oil supply port in fluid communication with an oil pump. A rotary electric machine is enclosed within the lower chamber, and has electrical leads positioned directly below the drain opening. A cover assembly is fastened to the housing within the upper chamber, and has a coolant channel assembly integrally connected to a cover plate. The coolant channel assembly includes electrical terminals that project through the drain opening and are fastened at a first distal end of the electrical terminals to the electrical leads. The cover assembly defines a primary coolant channel in fluid communication with the oil supply port, and directs oil to the electrical terminals.

    Abstract: A planetary gear assembly for transferring torque in a transmission includes first and second planetary gear sets, each including a ring gear, a sun gear, and a carrier bearing a plurality of planet gears. A bridge portion connects a first carrier of the first planetary gear set to a second ring gear of the second planetary gear set. The bridge portion may be disposed radially outward of the first sun gear, and the bridge portion may be connected to an outer side of the first carrier. In some examples, a first ring bearing assembly is constrained by the first ring gear and the bridge structure; a first carrier bearing assembly is constrained by a first case portion and a bridge extension extending from the first carrier; and a second ring bearing assembly is constrained by a second case portion and a second bridge extension extending from the second ring gear.

    Abstract: A transmission for a vehicle is disclosed which includes a casing defining a first cavity and a second cavity inside the casing. A platform is at least partially disposed inside the casing to separate the first and second cavities. The platform defines a plurality of first apertures arranged together to define a first group. An interface assembly includes a first support and a plurality of first connectors attached to the first support to define a first bundle. The first support is selectively attached to the platform to position the first bundle relative to the platform such that each of the first connectors are disposed in respective ones of the first apertures of the first group. The first connectors are coupled to a power inverter module and a first motor/generator through the first apertures of the platform to electrically connect the power inverter module and the first motor/generator to each other.
