Abstract: A system including an input group that, when executed by a processing unit, obtains contextual input data for use in determining a contextual mode, wherein the contextual input is based on at least one type of context. Example contexts include an environmental context; a user state; a user driving destination; a profile of the user; and a profile of another user. The system also includes a deliberation group that, when executed by the processing unit, determines, based on the contextual input data, a contextual mode for use in controlling a vehicle function. The system also includes an output group that, when executed by the hardware-based processing unit, initiates implementation, at a vehicle of transportation, of the contextual mode determined to control the vehicle function.

Abstract: A mobility planning server is disclosed that is configured to: receive a listing of one or more scheduled activities for a plurality of users; identify a plurality of different types of mobility modes potentially available to transport the users; retrieve, from one or more service providers of the mobility modes, the potential availability of the mobility modes provided by the service provider and any service provider indicated constraints regarding the mobility modes; analyze the one or more scheduled activities, identified mobility modes, the potential availability of the mobility modes, and constraints indicated by any service provider; prepare a mobility plan for each user based on the analysis wherein the mobility plans include a mobility planning server selected mobility mode for each activity; confirm the availability of mobility modes included in the mobility plans; confirm user acceptance of the mobility plans; and schedule a selected mobility mode for each activity.

Abstract: A system, for implementation with an autonomous vehicle, includes a hardware-based processing unit, a human-machine interface, and a non-transitory storage device including a registration module that, when executed by the hardware-based processing unit performs passenger-registration functions. The functions include obtaining passenger registration data indicating multiple identifications corresponding respectively to multiple passengers registered to use an autonomous-vehicle driving service, and determines whether each of multiple persons attempting to ride in the autonomous vehicle is one of the passengers registered for the autonomous-vehicle driving service, yielding respective authentications regarding persons determined to be one for the passengers registered for the service. The storage device also includes a vehicle-passenger communication module that, when executed, initiates intra-vehicle communication with passengers authenticated by way of the human-machine interface, and in some cases communicates with authenticated passengers at least intermittently from start to end of the autonomous ride, and in a personalized manner.
