摘要： An image data transmission system performs a coding of a plurality of picture elements in units of blocks. In order to prevent a deterioration of an image quality caused due to a loss of a packet cell on a transmission line without increasing a volume of data to be transmitted, a unit for producing a signal designating a loss compensation method to be performed on a receiving side is provided to be performed on a transmission side. The receiving side provides a unit for detecting a loss of the packet or cell and a unit for compensating the lost block data by the loss compensating method designated by the transmission side.

摘要： An image encoding and transmitting system is an image transmission system for transmitting digital data such as TV telephones. The system for dividing input frame data into a plurality of blocks before transmitting them comprises on its sending side an intra-frame/inter-frame determiner for receiving intra-frame data and inter-frame data and selecting either of them for output, and a difference collator for having the intra-frame/inter-frame determiner compulsorily output intra-frame data at the time of data input for the next frame when one or more data in each block forming inter-frame data are larger than a predetermined threshold. The system also comprises on its receiving side an picture element domain frame data storage for storing received data in the picture element domain, and a motion vector detector for detecting according to the contents in the storage a motion vector using the data in the block surrounding the discarded block in order to guess the data in the discarded block.

摘要： A signal coding apparatus, which is coupled, via a transmission path, to a receiver having a receiver buffer and a decoder, includes a coding unit for coding a signal and outputting information generated in a frame unit, the information being a coded signal. The apparatus also includes a transmitter buffer for temporarily storing the information, and a controller for controlling an amount of the information on the basis of a storage capacity of the receiver buffer and an amount of the information which is contained in a frame per a unit time. There is also provided a method used in the above coding apparatus, and a signal coding transmission system employing the signal coding apparatus.

摘要： A differential coding circuit including a subtracter, a quantizer for quantizing a differential signal from the subtracter, and a predicted signal generating circuit for generating a predicted signal on the basis of a quantized differential signal from the quantizer. The subtracter subtracts the quantized differential signal of the quantizer and the predicted signal from the sampled input signal. The critical path of the circuit is shortened, therefore the operation speed of the differential coding circuit increases.

摘要： Frequently occurring DCT coefficients F(u, v) are predictable. Accordingly, values f.sub.u,v,F,(u,v) (x, y) for the frequently occurring DCT coefficients are calculated and stored, in advance, in a table. Among input DCT coefficients F(u, v), only non-zero DCT coefficients are processed. It is determined whether or not the table contains values f.sub.u,v,F(u,v) (x, y) for a given non-zero DCT coefficient. If the table contains the values, they are read out of the table, and if not, they are directly calculated. The read or calculated values are added to pixels (x, y), respectively, to provide pixel values (x, y).

摘要： An inter-frame encoding/decoding equipment for television signals consists of inter-frame encoding equipment encoding a difference between television signals and the output of a frame memory and inter-frame decoding equipment which receives an encoded signal sent from the inter-frame encoding device via a transmission line, which decodes by adding the output of the frame memory to the encoded signal. The inter-frame encoding equipment is provided with a first operation circuit which operates the remainders obtained by dividing, by a predetermined value, the number of bits of logic "1" in the bit groups into which the output or the input of the frame memory is divided by a predetermined unit. The inter-frame decoding equipment is provided with a second operation circuit which operates the remainders obtained by dividing, by a predetermined value, the number of bits of logic "1" in the bit groups into which the output or the input of the frame memory is divided by a predetermined unit. The inter-frame decoding equipment is further provided with a comparator circuit which compares and checks the values operated by the first and the second operation circuits to detect a transmission error.

摘要： Inter-frame encoding/decoding equipment for television signals includes inter-frame encoding equipment generating an encoded signal by encoding a difference between television signals and the output of a frame memory and inter-frame decoding equipment which receives the encoded signal sent from the inter-frame encoding device via a transmission line. The decoding equipment decodes by adding its output of the frame memory to the encoded signal. The inter-frame encoding equipment is provided with a first operation circuit which calculates remainders obtained by dividing a predetermined value, into bit groups of the output or the input of the frame memory. 摘要： An apparatus and method for coding and decoding digital video images, capable of maintaining the quality of static regions, such as background images, in decoded pictures even when the resolution of pictures has been changed from high to low. The apparatus is equipped with two storage units, low-resolution and high-resolution picture storage units, to hold reference pictures in two different picture formats. When processing coded blocks (or blocks having at least one non-zero transform coefficient), a high-resolution picture updating unit converts corresponding blocks of a low-resolution reference picture retrieved from the low-resolution picture storage unit to obtain high-resolution block images. It then updates a high-resolution picture stored in the high-resolution picture storage unit with the obtained high-resolution block images. This updating operation is not applied on non-coded blocks. As a result, only active regions corresponding to the coded blocks are updated within the picture stored in the high-resolution picture storage unit, while the remaining part, which may possibly be static background images, is preserved without losing their high visual quality.
