    摘要: In this invention, the smelting reduction operation can be carried out in a high efficiency by charging a carbonaceous material in such an amount that total surface area is not less than 60 m.sup.2 per 1 ton of slag weight. Carbon substance finely particulating through thermal crumbling under a high-temperature atmosphere inside the vessel is used as the carbonaceous material, whereby it is possible to stably conduct the smelting reduction while controlling the scattering of the carbonaceous material, and also the erosion, particularly locally erosion of refractory in the smelting reduction furnace, which was a serious problem in the conventional technique, can considerably be decreased to largely prolong the service life of refractory.

    摘要: A steel continuous casting method using a continuous caster that includes a pair of upper magnetic poles and a pair of lower magnetic poles is disclosed. The method comprises braking a molten steel flow with the DC magnetic fields respectively applied to the pair of upper magnetic poles and the pair of lower magnetic poles while stirring a molten steel with an AC magnetic field simultaneously applied to the pair of upper magnetic poles, the strength of an AC magnetic field applied to the upper magnetic poles is set within the range of 0.060 to 0.090 T and the strengths of DC magnetic fields applied to the upper and lower magnetic poles are controlled within particular ranges in accordance with the width of the slab to be cast and the casting speed.

    摘要: In producing high-quality steel with use of copper-containing steel scraps as an iron source, the copper-containing steel scraps are melted with addition of carbon to produce hot metal for steelmaking, then, copper contained in the hot metal is removed by sulfur-containing flux, and sulfur contained in the hot metal is removed. With this method, the copper in the steel scraps can be removed efficiently and without the need for large facilities. Preferably, the sulfur-containing flux used is flux having Na2S as the main component. The treatment for removing copper in the hot metal is preferably carried out with use of refining equipment with mechanical stirrer or by the flux injecting method. Besides, it is preferable that a shaft furnace having a coke bed formed inside is used to produce hot metal having a higher concentration of sulfur for the copper removal treatment.
