Abstract:
In a media server for processing data packets, media server functions are implemented by a plurality of modules categorized by real-time response requirements.
Abstract:
A method of covertly tagging an object for later tracking includes providing a material capable of at least one of being applied to the object and being included in the object, which material includes deuterium; and performing at least one of applying the material to the object and including the material in the object in a manner in which in the appearance of the object is not changed, to the naked eye.
Abstract:
Chemical compounds of formula (I): and pharmaceutically acceptable salts and addition compounds and prodrugs thereof are useful in therapy, particularly for the treatment of disorders of the central nervous system; damage to the central nervous system; cardiovascular disorders; gastrointestinal disorders; diabetes inspidus, and sleep apnea.
Abstract:
A system for movement in a body and performing a function on the body. The system comprises a polymer body portion, an electronic unit carried by the polymer body portion, a circuit in the polymer body portion operatively connected to the electronic unit, pieces in the polymer body portion, and a system for controlling movement of the polymer body portion utilizing magnetic forces controlling movement of the pieces. The system utilizes magnetic guidance to control movement of a polymer body portion.
Abstract:
A gas turbine engine having a longitudinal centerline axis therethrough, including: a fan section at a forward end of the gas turbine engine including at least a first fan blade row connected to a first drive shaft; a booster compressor positioned downstream of the fan section, the booster compressor including a first compressor blade row and a second compressor blade row connected to a second drive shaft and interdigitated with the first compressor blade row; and, a pulse detonation system for powering the first and second drive shafts. The pulse detonation system powers only the second drive shaft during a first designated condition of the gas turbine engine and both the first drive shaft and the second drive shaft during a second designated condition of the gas turbine engine. The first and second drive shafts are powered independently of each other by the pulse detonation system.
Abstract:
Cephalad and caudal vertebral facet joint prostheses and methods of use are provided. The prostheses provide an artificial facet joint structure including an artificial articular configuration unlike the preexisting articular configuration. The radii and material stress values of the prostheses are configured to sustain contact stress. The cephalad prosthesis provides for posterior-anterior adjustment. Both prostheses permit lateral adjustment and adjustment to accomodate interpedicle distance. Further, the prostheses may be customized to provide a pre-defined lordotic angle and a pre-defined pedicle entry angle.
Abstract:
A portable forced door entry training apparatus configurable to simulate a wide variety of locked or barricaded door entry conditions, and which can be utilized in conjunction with a wide variety of convention forced-entry tools for repeated forced entry training purposes. The training apparatus consists of a base plate, upon which is secured a rigid upright door frame structure having a pair of vertical side jambs, coupled at the top by a header. A conventional door is secured within the rigid frame structure by two or more hinge brackets affixed to a side jamb member of the rigid frame structure. One or more holding brackets are affixed to the rigid frame structure on the opposite side jamb member. Each holding bracket is affixed to the rigid frame structure with a replaceable frangible connection, and is positioned to resist opening of the door about the pivot axis of the hinge brackets.

Abstract:
Preferred and alternative embodiments of a locking apparatus are described for use on bicycles with quick release mechanisms on the wheels or seat. The lock consists of three attachable components, a locking platform, lock housing and bridge, and lock. When fitted together and onto the bicycle, the locking apparatus components secure the lever arm of a quick release mechanism, preventing any rotation thereof and blocking access thereto with cutting devices. A gripless nut is also provided for use on a bicycle wheel axle opposite the quick release mechanism.
Abstract:
A system includes a knot tying device for tying a filament in a knot around an article and a filament delivery device from which is drawn the filament. The filament delivery device may be in the form of a cartridge having a housing sized and arranged to be releasably attached to the knot tying device where the housing has an opening through which pre-cut or loosely coupled lengths of the filament can be drawn. The knot tying device includes a shuttle attachable to the filament where the shuttle is caused to be moved during a knot tying process around an article to be tied and a device for at least pulling the filament away from the article at appropriate times during the knot tying process.
