    摘要: Optical modulator having wide bandwidth based on Fabry-Perot resonant reflection is disclosed. The optical modulator includes: a bottom Distributed Bragg Reflector (DBR) layer; a top DBR layer including at least one layer, and a modified layer; and an active layer disposed between bottom and top DBR layers, wherein the at least one layer includes at least one pair of a first refractive index layer having a first refractive index and a second refractive index layer having a second refractive index, the modified layer includes at least one pair of a third refractive index layer having a third refractive index and a fourth refractive index layer having a fourth refractive index, the third and the fourth refractive indexes being different, and at least one of the third and the fourth refractive index layers has a second optical thickness that is not λ/4 or that is not an odd multiple thereof.

The optical modulator includes an optical-electric (O-E) conversion element converting input optical images to current signals using the photoelectric effect, and an electric-optical (E-O) conversion element that emits light using the current signals transferred from the O-E conversion element. Trenches are formed from at least a surface of the optical modulator to a predetermined depth in the optical modulator so as to block or reduce electrical interference between pixels when the electric signals are transferred from the O-E conversion element to the E-O conversion element.

    摘要: Provided are a high-speed optical modulator and a method of modulating light by using the same. The optical modulator includes first and second resonance cavities that are sequentially stacked on a transparent substrate, wherein the first and second resonance cavities each include an electric-optical layer. According to the method, first and second voltages having different sizes are simultaneously applied respectively to the first and second resonance cavities, and then for the other configuration of the modulator mutually interchanged voltages are applied.

    摘要: A two-axis micro-electro mechanical system (MEMS) device includes a moving plate, a stage, a driving coil, a pair of magnets, and a yoke magnetic body. The moving plate is supported coaxially on a first axis to move pivotably about the first axis. The stage is supported coaxially on the second axis in an inner region of the moving plate. The driving coil includes a coaxial coil portion arranged along the first axis of the driving plate and divided at a center by the stage, and a first connecting coil portion and a second connecting coil portion. The yoke magnetic body is disposed between the pair of magnets in a region above or below the magnets and is formed of a material capable of being magnetized by the magnets in order to suddenly change a magnetic flux density according to a distance between the pair of magnets.

    摘要: A high speed optical shutter, a method of operating the high speed optical shutter, and an optical apparatus including the high speed optical shutter. The optical shutter includes a transparent electro-optical medium in an active solid state having a total internal reflection surface on which an angle of total internal reflection is changed by an external action. The transparent electro-optical medium may be a prism or a prism array whose angle of total internal reflection is changed by the external action. An incident light path changing unit may be further arranged in front of the transparent electro-optical medium. Also, a light path changing unit may be further arranged so as to allow light passing through the electro-optical medium to be perpendicularly incident on an incidence target object.
