Abstract: A method is provided for operating one or more one solid-state electro-optic device to provide an electrically switching shutter. The method includes forming an alternating stack of first semiconductor layers having a first dopant and second semiconductor layers having a second dopant to form at least one superlattice semiconductor device. The method further includes applying to the at least one superlattice semiconductor device a first voltage to induce a transparent state of the alternating stack such that light is transmitted through the alternating stack, and applying to the at least one superlattice semiconductor device a second voltage different from the first voltage to induce an opaque state of the alternating stack such that light is inhibited from passing through the alternating stack.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a quantum dot liquid crystal backlight source, including a blue light LED strip, a fluorescent film containing green quantum dots and a light guide plate, wherein the fluorescent film and the light guide plate are disposed in layers; the blue light LED strip is arranged at one or more lateral sides of the light guide plate; and one surface of the blue light LED strip facing the light guide plate is packaged with a red fluorescent layer. Liquid crystal backlight source of the present invention can avoid that the green light emitted by the green quantum dots is absorbed by red quantum dots or other red fluorescent material, and the blue light LED surface is directly packaged with the red fluorescent layer, so that green light loss can be avoided, the overall brightness of the white light source is increased by 5-10%.

Abstract: A doubly resonant electro-optic converter is provided. An optical resonator and a microwave resonator are disposed such that fields from the two resonators can interact in an electro-optic active medium. The optical resonator is a planar photonic crystal optical resonator, and the microwave resonator is at least partially superconducting in operation. The active medium has a second order nonlinearity capable of generating a sum frequency signal and/or a difference frequency signal from the optical and microwave fields. The resulting structure has both quantum and classical applications.
