    摘要: Provided is an optical modulator having pixelization patterns. The optical modulator includes an optical-electric (O-E) conversion element converting input optical images to current signals using the photoelectric effect, and an electric-optical (E-O) conversion element that emits light using the current signals transferred from the O-E conversion element. Trenches are formed from at least a surface of the optical modulator to a predetermined depth in the optical modulator so as to block or reduce electrical interference between pixels when the electric signals are transferred from the O-E conversion element to the E-O conversion element.

    摘要: A 3 dimensional (3D) image acquisition apparatus and a method of extracting depth information in the 3D image acquisition apparatus are provided. The method of extracting depth information includes sequentially projecting N (N is a natural number equal to or greater than 3) different pieces of projection light onto a object; modulating N pieces of reflection light reflected from the object with an optical modulation signal having a gain waveform; generating N images by capturing the N pieces of modulated reflection light; generating a first averaged image by multiplying the N images by primary weights and generating a second averaged image by multiplying the N images by secondary weights; acquiring an average phase delay from the first and second averaged images; and calculating a distance to the object from the average phase delay.

    摘要: Disclosed are an optical image modulator, an optical apparatus including the same, and methods of manufacturing and operating the optical image modulator. The optical image modulator includes a light amount increasing unit increasing the amount of forward light emission of an electric-optical unit. The light amount increasing unit includes a first reflector reflecting light, which travels from the inside of the electric-optical unit toward the optical-electric unit, to the electric-optical unit. The light amount increasing unit may further include a second light reflector reflecting light, which passes through the optical-electric unit without optical-electric conversion, to the optical-electric unit.

The optical modulator includes: a bottom Distributed Bragg Reflector (DBR) layer; a top DBR layer including at least one layer, and a modified layer; and an active layer disposed between bottom and top DBR layers, wherein the at least one layer includes at least one pair of a first refractive index layer having a first refractive index and a second refractive index layer having a second refractive index, the modified layer includes at least one pair of a third refractive index layer having a third refractive index and a fourth refractive index layer having a fourth refractive index, the third and the fourth refractive indexes being different, and at least one of the third and the fourth refractive index layers has a second optical thickness that is not λ/4 or that is not an odd multiple thereof.

The optical modulator includes first and second resonance cavities that are sequentially stacked on a transparent substrate, wherein the first and second resonance cavities each include an electric-optical layer. According to the method, first and second voltages having different sizes are simultaneously applied respectively to the first and second resonance cavities, and then for the other configuration of the modulator mutually interchanged voltages are applied.
