    摘要: A first pair of antennas are mounted on a satellite spaced along a first axis and a second pair of antennas are spaced along a second axis for receiving signals from another satellite in orbit with the satellite, the first and second axes being orthogonal to a yaw axis that points toward the centroid of the celestial body about which the satellite orbits. Each pair of antennas are used to derive phase angle and signal strength differences, and these differences are used for deducing a yaw orientation of the satellite about the yaw axis.

    摘要: A cryogenic propellant tank system and process for densifying cryogenic liquid propellant comprises a tank with a combined manifold, a combined manifold line, a pressurizing gas line, and a vent line. The combined manifold is located in the tank. The combined manifold line functionally connects the combined manifold to a chilling system. The pressurizing gas line and the vent line are also functionally connected to the combined manifold line. The tank may be disposed in a vehicle. The manifold is disposed proximate the top of the tank. The chilling system may be a heat exchanger/filling system. The process for filling the tank comprises the steps of charging the tank with cryogenic liquid propellant, venting gases in the tank, densifying the cryogenic liquid propellant, and pressurizing the tank. The tank is charged with the cryogenic liquid propellant such that the orifices in the combined manifold are submerged. The gases in the tank are vented through the combined manifold and out of the tank. The venting step is arrested prior to the submerging of the combined manifold orifices. The liquid in the tank is densified by directing a recirculation stream of the cryogenic liquid propellant from the tank through the combined manifold, out of the tank, cooling and directing the recirculation stream back into the tank. The tank is pressurized by directing a pressurizing gas stream into the combined manifold and into the tank.

    摘要: This invention relates to an apparatus for observing objects and determining their position. A SIRPS (Staring Infrared Panoramic Sensor) for observing objects in a 360.degree. field of view around the SIRPS is coupled with a GPS (global positioning system) to give position data for the objects observed by the SIRPS, an IMU (inertial measurement unit) which provides data on the attitude of the SIRPS and a transmitter to transmit the view of the objects and the position data to a user having a display showing him the objects and positions of the objects. The SIRPS, IMU, GPS and transmitter/receiver are combined in a pod which is placed in a position where it can have a large field of view such as by being flown over the area to be observed such as under a modified Rogollo wing tethered to the ground to hold it in position. A repeater will allow two way communications through the device which is in the air such that radio communications over barriers, such as hills, is enabled. A user receives the SIRPS images and displays them for viewing such that the user can then see objects and know their positions.

    摘要: A highly reliable shadow memory system is able to survive multiple fast sequence power failures and includes a volatile main memory and a shadow memory subsystem which continually monitors write accesses to the main memory. The shadow memory subsystem includes a disk drive or shadow memory storing a copy of the data in main memory. As the main memory contents are altered, the shadow memory is continually updated to reflect the changes while main utility power is available. In the event of a main utility power failure, backup power is required to store main memory data in the shadow memory for only a few storage locations for which the updating of the shadow memory may lag main memory data changes. Consequently, only a small portion of available battery backup power is required to preserve all main memory data and the system can withstand multiple rapid succession power failures without loss of data.

    摘要: A center pivot irrigation machine having a swing arm for irrigating corner areas of a field. The swing arm has a steerable support tower which follows a buried cable to guide the swing arm into and out of the field corners. A double hinge connection between the main irrigation boom and the swing arm includes one hinge joint which accommodates pivoting of the swing arm and another hinge joint which controls the operation of the tower drive motors. A cam switch monitors the steering angle of the swing arm tower and turns the sprinklers of the swing tower on and off in accordance with the steering angle to achieve uniform water application. A secondary set of sprinklers on the main boom is deactivated and the entire machine is slowed when the steering angle indicates that the swing arm is covering a rapidly increasing area.
