Abstract:
A die has a part that is sealed with a cap. The seal can be hermetic or non-hermetic. If hermetic, a layer of glass or metal is formed in the surface of the die, and the cap has a layer of glass or metal at a peripheral area so that, when heated, the layers form a hermetic seal. A non-hermetic seal can be formed by bonding a cap with a patterned adhesive. The cap, which can be silicon or can be a metal paddle, is electrically coupled to a fixed voltage to shield the part of the die.
Abstract:
An electric charging system for a firearm includes a port in operable communication with a chamber adapted to receive an amount of expanding gas created by an ignited charge, and a cavity in operable communication with the port and adapted to receive an amount of the expanding gas therefrom. The charging system also includes a charging assembly in operable communication with the cavity, wherein the charging assembly creates an electric charge when impinged by the expanding gas located within the cavity, and a conductor in electrical communication with the charging assembly, wherein the conductor receives the electrical charge from the charging assembly. The charging system further includes a power storage unit in electrical communication with the conductor, wherein the storage unit stores the electrical charge received from the conductor.
Abstract:
A central management system manages a plurality of computer jukeboxes and communicates compressed digital data with each jukebox via a transmission link. The management system also includes a host computer that maintains a master set of compressed digital data representing a plurality of songs, song associated graphics, and song identity information. Each jukebox includes a storage unit that is capable of storing a subset of the master set and a processing circuit having a decompression circuit. The processing circuit controls the operation and flow of digital data into and out of the jukebox through the transmission link as well as a visual song information display, user song selection keys, a money detector, and an audio reproduction circuit coupled to a speaker system so as to provide audio output to users of the jukebox.
Abstract:
A micromachined accelerometer is hermetically sealed in a reduced oxygen environment to allow organics to survive high temperature sealing processes.
Abstract:
A semiconductor die is packaged in a hermetically sealed ceramic dual in-line package (cerdip) with a non-standard polysulfone film, or with a paste made from the film, as a die attach material. A cerdip process heats to temperatures of at least about 380.degree. C. The paste is produced by dissolving the film with NMP or with a blend including NMP, and adding a thixotropic agent. The paste or film forms a bond in a cerdip with less than 5000 ppm moisture without using a getter.
Abstract:
A gaming device is shown having one printed circuit board that includes a game control processor; at least one memory storing game operation information; and a light transmitter for transmitting encoded information representing selected game operation information that is stored in the memory. The gaming device also includes a communication printed circuit board that has a light receiver for receiving light encoded information from the light transmitter; at least one memory for storing game operation information as represented by the light encoded information received by the light receiver; and a communication controller that allows communication between the gaming device and a remote station. Because the light transmitter can transmit information to the communication board but cannot receive information therefrom, communications between the gaming device and a remote station is allowed without compromising the integrity or security of the operations of the gaming device.
Abstract:
An electronic game device system is switchable between an amusement mode and a gaming or gambling mode and is useful for vehicles such as airplanes or boats which move geographically from jurisdictions where gaming is legal to jurisdictions where it is not. A GPS receiver can be used to automatically switch the system between the modes, dependent upon the vehicle position. An improved method of operating a touch screen on a CRT or LCD computer screen uses finger release as input registering, and also may use highlighting of a button being selected with an enlarged button area for any highlighted button. Mounting arrangements for mounting computer screens or monitors are also disclosed for mounting between a transparent table top in e.g. a lounge area, and for mounting in seatbacks of airplane or other vehicle seats.
Abstract:
Preperforated tubing is produced by forming a perforation in flat strip of raw material, forming a hollow, cylindrical tube from the flat strip, and placing a removable plug into the perforation, so as to form a fluid-tight seal. A sealing element may be placed into the perforation. The perforation may comprise a hole, into which first and second countersinks may be formed. The sealing element may be placed into the first countersink, and the plug may be placed through the countersinks and the hole, such that the plug's body fills the hole and the plug's head fits within the second countersink.
Abstract:
An improved machine and method for lifting, loading, and maintaining a web roll on a cantelevered spindle so that the web roll may rotate about the longitudinal axis of the spindle thereby permitting the web to be unwound from the web roll. The cantelevered spindle of this machine may be moved, vertically and horizontally, from its normal, unwind position so as to be insertable into the central core opening of the web roll while the web roll is positioned on the floor adjacent to the machine. Thereafter the spindle, and the web roll mounted on the spindle, are moved vertically and horizontally and are returned to the spindle's normal web unwind position. The means utilized to move the spindle horizontally during web roll lifting and loading is also used, in part, to adjust the position of the web roll, during the web unwinding operation, in response to signals from a side-lay sensing device employed to sense the position of the side edge of the web being unwound.
Abstract:
An aqueous fabric softening composition containing less than 10% cationic softener also includes an alkoxylated fatty amine having up to 7 alkylene oxide groups per molecule, such as ethoxylated tallow amine at exemplified levels of 4.0 to 12.0%. The alkoxylated compound enhances the softening and anti-static properties of the composition.
