摘要: A method for making an electrolytically conductive battery separator polyethylene film for alkaline battery applications is disclosed which comprises carrying out the grafting reaction in an environment free of air and comprising a pressurized inert gas blanket. The resulting lots of polyethylene film are capable of being made with the range of electrolytic resistance values required for a variety of alkaline battery applications, while exhibiting highly uniform electrolytic resistance characteristics.

摘要: Low noise polycrystalline silicon resistors are fabricated in the following sequence:(1) deposit an appropriate thickness of polysilicon (e.g. 400 nm) on top of an oxidized wafer(2) resistor doping by ion implantation (e.g. phosphorous)(3) heavy doping of the end-contact regions of the polysilicon resistor by high-dose ion implantation(4) patterning the polysilicon resistor(5) oxidation/annealing the polysilicon resistor(6) open contacts to the polysilicon resistor(7) aluminum metallization to form ohmic contacts(8) a long (e.g. 3 hours) low temperature (e.g. at 375.degree.) pure hydrogen annealing to passivate the interface states in the polysilicon resistor. Polyresistors processed this way have a noise figure that is about a factor of three lower than samples processed otherwise. The low temperature post metallization annealing in pure hydrogen passivates the interfaces of polyresistors, reducing the l/f noise normally generated therein.

摘要: For a game of chance, a selected game value is generated. The selected game value is used to determine whether the player is a winner or a loser. An historical value for a financial asset used to generate the selected game value is displayed. The historical value is generated after the input receives the game input from the player and before the display displays the selected game value. The historical value is generated by a financial exchange independent of the gaming table. The historical value generated by the financial exchange is verifiable by an internet query to an information server. An amount of detail displayed for the historical value is based on the selection received from the player.

摘要: A method and apparatus for adjusting corneal curvature of the eye comprising an adjustable corneal arcuate segment or segments which is implantable into the cornea. The arcuate segment is a flexible hollow shell composed of a synthetic or a natural material, with an annular chamber that is filled with a predetermined amount of a biocompatible material. The corneal curvature is adjusted by removing or augmenting the predetermined amount of biocompatible material contained in the arcuate segment.

摘要: A method and apparatus for adjusting corneal curvature of the eye comprising an adjustable split ring formed of an elastic hollow shell which is implantable into the cornea in encircling relation to the central optic zone of the cornea. The ring is filled by a predetermined amount with a select quantity of biocompatible material, either a fluid or strands of biocompatible suture material or polymethylmathacrylate, of predetermined size and length. The biocompatible filler material is strategically located within the elastic shell to alter its dimensions in thickness or diameter and thereby adjust the corneal curvature to correct for refractive error. Further adjustment of the ring may be made post-operatively after implantation by select removal of the biocompatible filler material.

摘要: An adjustable intrastromal device adapted for implantation in the cornea and formed of a flexible hollow shell composed of a material such as a silicone or urethane polymer, with a chamber that may be filled with a biocompatible material such as saline or gel. Preferably, the device has more than one compartment, each of which is water-tight and distinct from the other compartments. Each compartment contains a predetermined amount of the biocompatible fluid described, and the device is implanted in the cornea in surrounding relation to the optical zone of the cornea. Increased volume displaced by the ring results in greater flattening of the central anterior corneal curvature thus correcting myopia. Preferably, the myopia is slightly overcorrected resulting in more flattening of the cornea than necessary for optimal vision. The corneal curvature is then adjusted after implantation of the device into the cornea by selectively removing the fluid from a specific compartment, thus decreasing the volume of the implant in a discrete fashion and resulting in steepening the corneal curvature and producing a myopic shift.
