摘要: Molding materials containing high molecular weight polyphenylene ethers are produced by a process in which a solution of a polyphenylene ether in an organic solvent, together with another polymer, is freed of solvent by multi-stage evaporation. The solvent is preferably an aromatic compound from the class comprising the hydrocarbons, halohydrocarbons, ethers or esters, the ratio of the other polymer to the polyphenylene ether is advantageously from 99:1 to 20:80 parts by weight, the other polymer is, in particular, a homopolymer or copolymer of styrene or of a homolog thereof, which may be modified with rubber, and the multi-stage evaporation process preferably comprises not less than two and not more than four working up stages. The evaporation is carried out in general at from 120.degree. to 280.degree. C. and under a pressure of from 1 to 3,000 mbar, advantageously in the presence of assistants which reduce the partial pressure, eg. water and/or methanol.

摘要: The invention relates to a thermoplastic molding material of an elastomeric polymer A, a shell B grafted to the polymer A, and a copolymer C as rigid matrix. The amount of polymer A is 1 to 25 percent by weight based on the weight of A+B+C. It has a glass transition temperature, Tg, of less than 0.degree. C. and an average particle size of 200 to 750 nanometers (d.sub.50 value of the integral mass distribution) and is composed of: 50 to 99.9 percent by weight of at least one alkylacrylate with 1 to 8 carbon atoms in the alkyl radical and 0.1 to 5 percent by weight of a polyfunctional monomer which has a crosslinking action. Grafting shell B represents 5 to 40 percent by weight based on A+B+C and is composed of at least one of the monomers of the group of(b.sub.1) vinylaromatic monomers, and(b.sub.2) the ethylenically unsaturated monomers.Grafting shell B is prepared in two stages with 30 to 70 percent by weight of the monomers b.sub.1 being used in the first stage, and 30 to 70 percent by weight of a mixture of monomers b.sub.1 and b.sub.2 in a weight ratio of 90:10 to 60:40 being used in the second stage.Copolymer C is added in an amount of 35 to 94 percent by weight based on A+B+C and consists of a vinylaromatic monomer and an ethylenically unsaturated monomer. The molding material may contain commonly used additives in effective amounts and is used for the preparation of molded parts.

摘要: A thermoplastic molding material consists of a polycarbonate A and a graft copolymer B, the latter consisting of an elastomer (rubber) (b.sub.1) and a shell (b.sub.2) grafted onto the elastomer. The elastomer (b.sub.1) contains, as copolymerized units, from 35 to 100% by weight of a diene from the group consisting of the conjugated dienes of 4 to 5 carbon atoms, and can contain, as copolymerized units, from 0 to 65% by weight of a monomer from the group consisting of the alkyl acrylates or alkyl methacrylates, where alkyl is of 1 to 8 carbon atoms. The shell (b.sub.2) is obtained in a conventional manner by successive polymerization of the monomers constituting the shell, in two process steps, in the presence of the elastomer (b.sub.1); in a first process step, from 10 to 90% by weight of a mixture of a vinylaromatic hydrocarbon and one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers which differ from the said hydrocarbon, in a weight ratio of from 90:10 to 60:40, are first incorporated as copolymerized units, followed by the polymerization of from 90 to 10% by weight of a monomer from the group consisting of the alkyl acrylates or of the alkyl methacrylates, where alkyl is of 1 to 8 carbon atoms. The molding material is used for the production of shaped articles.

摘要: High molecular weight polyphenylene ethers are prepared from monohydric phenols by an oxidative coupling reaction with oxygen in the presence of a catalyst complex obtained from a copper salt and an organic amine by a method wherein the metal component of the catalyst is separated off, after the polymerization, by the addition of a polymeric polycarboxylic acid which is essentially composed of unsaturated monofunctional or difunctional carboxylic acids and/or their anhydrides.Advantageously, the polymeric polycarboxylic acids used are homopolymers or copolymers of (a) from 50 to 100% by weight of one or more unsaturated monofunctional acids of 3 to 10 carbon atoms and/or one or more difunctional acids or their anhydrides of 4 to 6 carbon atoms and from 0 to 50% by weight of one or more monomers which do not possess an acid function and can be copolymerized with (a).

摘要: A coherent explosive gas phase in a gas/liquid reactor comprising a tubular body which is closed at the top and into which one or more jets of liquid which are fed from a liquid circulation and are directed downward, emerge from one or more nozzles located at the highest point of the reactor, and entrain a gas phase which is to be dispersed, introduce it into the liquid and finally produce complete dispersion of the gas, is avoided by a method wherein, before start-up of the liquid circulation, the inactive reactor is charged with an amount of liquid reactant such that a gas space corresponding to the subsequent gas hold-up of dispersed bubbles under operating conditions remains at the top of the reactor, this gas space is filled with a gas, at a pressure p.sub.1, which is inert under the reaction conditions, and the gaseous reactant is fed to the reactor only when, under the action of the liquid jet or jets, the inert gas has been dispersed into a hold-up of dispersed bubbles so that a coherent gas phase no longer exists.
