摘要: In an electroluminescent device comprising an insulating substrate having consecutively thereon a first electrode, a first insulating layer, a luminescent layer composed of two types or more luminescent portions differing in luminescent color which are provided in a flat panel arrangement to give a single-layered luminescent layer, a second insulating layer and a second electrode, a first dielectric film is disposed between the luminescent portions to provide an isolation layer for isolating the luminescent portions, and a second dielectric film for adjusting the luminescence threshold voltage is disposed on the light outcoupling side or on the side opposite thereto of one of said luminescent portions. Herein, the first and second dielectric films provided for isolating the luminescent portions and for adjusting the luminescence threshold voltage, respectively, are made of the same material and have a refractive index lower than that of both luminescent portions.

摘要: A transparent thin-film EL display apparatus has a transparent thin-film EL element formed on a glass substrate. A rear substrate consisting of photochromic glass and the glass substrate on which the EL element is formed are disposed facing each other with the EL element located in between. A light-transmitting insulation material is inserted in a space between the two substrates and hermetically sealed. When the display on the EL element becomes hard to see due to light entering from the rear of the display apparatus, the photochromic glass reacts in response to the light and darkens the rear of the EL element, thereby blocking the light. Accordingly, normally the display apparatus displays various items of information through the front substrate and ensures visibility of the background through the display apparatus, and when high-intensity external light enters through the rear, the display apparatus reacts and blocks this light by means of a light shutter function, thereby enabling reliable display of the information without impairment of display contrast, thus guaranteeing a stable and highly reliable display.

摘要: A pressure detector has a cylindrical housing projecting into an atmosphere the pressure of which to be measured, a pressure chamber formed within the housing, to which is the pressure to be measured is introduced, a metallic diaphragm formed on a surface of one portion of a wall defining the pressure chamber, which deforms in accordance with changes in the pressure which is to be measured, and a strain gauge provided in the diaphragm for generating an output signal corresponding to the strain generated due to the deformation of the diaphragm. The strain gauge is composed of a diamond monocrystal plate and a diamond semiconductor film formed on the diamond monocrystal plate. On the diamond monocrystal plate are piled a titanium film, a platinum film, and a gold film, in sequence. The gold film is joined to the diaphragm by brazing.

摘要: An electrically insulating ceramic sintered body suitably used in a ceramic glow plug, for example, is formed by firing a mixed powder of 75 to 95 vol % of a basic material, 25 to 5 vol % of an additive and a sintering aid. The basic material is composed of at least one material selected from the group consisting of silicon nitride, aluminum nitride, and .beta.-sialon. The additive is composed of at least one material selected from the group consisting of silicide, carbide, nitride, and boride of metal, the additive having a thermal expansion coefficient larger than that of the basic material. And the sintering aid is composed of one of alumina in an amount of 3 to 50 wt % of the total amount of the basic material and the additive, and spinel in an amount of 2 to 15 wt % of the total amount of the basic material and the additive. The sintered body has the structure that particles of the additive cohere and the cohering additive particles are dispersed in particles of the basic material so as to be surrounded by the particles of the basic material and separated from adjacent cohering additive particles by the particles of the basic material. When the sintered body is used as a heater supporting member of the ceramic glow plug, the thermal expansion coefficient thereof can be controlled in accordance with that of the heater, and a high specific resistance of not less than 10.sup.5 .OMEGA. cm can be obtained.

摘要: An electroluminescent display panel which is able to selectively display different colors by changing a voltage level imposed thereon is made in a simple structure. A first luminescent layer (4) emitting green light, for example, and a second luminescent layer (5) emitting orange light, for example, are directly laminated on each other without interposing an intermediate electrode therebetween. The second luminescent layer covers only a part of the first luminescent layer to form a single layer portion and a double layer portion. The single layer portion emits green light at a low voltage level, while the double layer portion emits lemon light having a higher luminance at a high voltage level. The display may be made in a form of a matrix or a certain pattern. The display panel may be used as an instrument panel for an automobile. The green light display is used at night time, while the lemon light display with a high luminance is used at day time to cope with sun light.
