Abstract:
A method for producing a single solid metal work piece having different mechanical characteristics in different sections. A groove is cut in the piece between each section. A partitioning wall is inserted in the groove with the remainder of the groove filled with insulating material. Different sections are heated to different quenching temperatures then cooled at the same or different rates. For example, one section may be cooled by water spraying while another is cooled by air blast.
Abstract:
A miniature tape cassette comprises an integral one-piece drawn sheet metal casing having an upper wall, a lower wall and side walls, one side of the casing being opened. Aligned holes are provided in the upper and lower walls of the casing rotatably to receive hub portions of tape spools on which a magnetic tape is wound. The upper wall is provided with integral spring strips which extend from the holes toward a central portion of the open side of the casing. These spring strips flex outwardly to permit the insertion of the tape spools into the casing and then spring back into the plane of the upper wall so as to retain the tape spools in place. Guide rollers adjacent opposite ends of the casing and near the open side have axle portions that are received in slots provided in the upper and lower walls of the casing. Pads for pressing against the tape are provided at opposite ends of a leaf spring which is positioned in the casing by means of a pin having end portions received in the upper and lower wall. Small tab portions of the upper and lower walls at the open side of the casing are bent at right angles to provide guide elements for the tape.
Abstract:
To provide a zincate zinc plating bath capable of efficiently forming a zinc plating film with high brightness and high qualities even at a low current density. The zincate zinc plating bath is used in electroplating for depositing a metal containing at least zinc and forming a zinc plating film. It contains a primary brightener having a function of reducing the size crystals of the metal to be deposited and a plating accelerator containing a heterocyclic compound having a predetermined structure such as 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a grid interconnection device that converts electric power from a power supply device into predetermined alternating-current power, and interconnects the power supply device to a power distribution system. The grid interconnection device includes a detector that detects islanding of the power supply device, and a receiver that receives power failure information including local area information indicative of an area in which a power failure occurs, through a predetermined transmission path. The detector enhances detection sensitivity for the islanding when the received power failure information includes the local area information indicative of a different area from the area to which the power distribution system belongs.
Abstract:
A trigger circuit (22) having a depletion mode n-type transistor (32) and a depletion mode p-type transistor (34) operate by having each gate thereof driven by an independent source. When both transistors are on, the depletion mode n-type transistor (32) is driven by Is1 to Vsupply and the depletion mode p-type transistor (34) is driven by Is2 to ground. When both transistors are off, a transistor (26) is switched on driving Is1 to ground, and a transistor (28) is switched on driving the gate of depletion mode p-type transistor (34) to Vsupply. A linear regulator (50) using a depletion mode transistor pair (52, 54) with their gates thereof driven by separate sources provides a low voltage operation with minimal current leakage. One depletion mode transistor (52) is an n-type, and the second depletion mode transistor (54) is a p-type transistor.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide a data storage system that reduces a load of a data bus for connecting a HOST system with the data storage system. The data storage system includes a disk manager connected to the HOST system by a SCSI BUS, connected to a disk control unit by an RS PORT and connected to disk enclosures and a fan unit by a Serial BUS. The disk manager monitors operation of the disk control unit and disk enclosures and transmits results to the HOST system. In addition, control commands of the HOST system to the disk enclosures are executed via the disk manager.
Abstract:
A two part curable adhesive composition for use as adhesive for dental composite resin is provided, as a first part (i) a solution comprising a radical polymerizable acrylate or methacrylate monomer having in its molecule at least one group selected from the group consisting of hydroxyalkyl, hydroxyalkylene, amide, oxyalkylene and polyoxyalkylene groups, and a colvent for said radical polymerizable acrylate or methacrylate monomer; and as a second part (ii) a curable composition comprising (P) a monofunctional acrylate or methacrylate monomer, (Q) a polyfunctional acrylate or methacrylate monomer, (R) an acrylate or methacrylate monomer containing an acidic group and at least one acryloyloxyl or methacryloyloxyl group in its molecule, and (S) a trialkylboron or an oxide thereof; wherein said component (S) is maintained separate from said components (P), (Q) and (R) until immediately before use. A method for applying the above-described two-part curable adhesive composition to a dental area is provided, comprising: dissolving said radical polymerizable acrylate or methacrylate monomer in said solvent to form said solution (i); applying said solution (i) to a dental area; removing said solvent from said applied solution to form a coated area; mixing said components (P), (Q) and (R) with said component (S) to form said composition (ii); applying said composition (ii) to said coated area immediately after mixing to form a coating, and curing said coating.
Abstract:
A silicon single crystal pull-up apparatus includes a crucible for containing a molten silicon material, an annular heater disposed so as to surround the crucible for heating the silicon material in the crucible, and a plurality of plate-like members made of heat insulation material and disposed so as to surround the heater, each of the plate-like members has an arc-shaped cross section not less than a two-third circle and is connected with each other at respective side edges thereof such that the plurality of the plate-like members are assembled into a shape of a cylinder having wave-like circumferential side walls.
Abstract:
A number of inner packages are formed into a unit and wrapped in an outer package. The combination of the inner and outer packages allows the package to hold its shape after the outer package is opened. The outer package is formed by wrapping the inner package unit in a tubular outer wrap, and sealing the top and bottom surfaces. The outer wrap, or at least the material for the top and bottom panels of the outer package, is made of a contractible or heat shrinkable flexible plastic film which is contracted or heat shrunk to maintain and hold the inner package unit in a tightly packed condition. Deformation of the outer package is more effectively prevented and makes the outer package easy to handle. An opening in the outer package is formed by perforation lines in two side panels and a top or bottom panel. The perforation lines may extend the entire height of the outer package. The panel sections between these perforation lines form dust flaps after opening. The outer package is opened and the inner packages are removed individually.
