    摘要: A steam generating device and a washing machine having the same are disclosed. The steam generating device includes a lower housing, which contains water, in which a heater is arranged, and which has a vertical length longer than a horizontal length, an upper housing including a steam chamber for containing steam generated as the water is heated, a water level sensor for sensing a water level of the water chamber, and a receptacle for covering the water level sensor, the receptacle including an opening for allowing water to be introduced into the receptacle. In accordance with this configuration, it is possible to easily install the steam generating device, to achieve a superior performance, to prevent the water level sensor from malfunctioning, and to prevent spots from being formed on laundry.

The packing structure can protect a battery from external impact while minimizing an increase in size of the whole battery.

An active layer having a multiple quantum well structure is formed on the n-cladding layer. A p-cladding layer is formed on the active layer. A p-capping layer is formed on the p-cladding layer in a low temperature range in which single crystal growth does not take place. The p-capping layer has a nanoscale roughened structure formed in an upper surface thereof via heat treatment in a high temperature range in which at least partial crystallization takes place. The nanoscale roughened structure reduces total internal reflection of the nitride semiconductor thereby improving external quantum efficiency thereof.
