摘要: Provided is an image display apparatus capable of displaying a preferable image whose dark place contrast has a large value and whose color-reproducibility and gray-level reproducibility are excellent. A voltage level of a scanning selective signal is changed in response to a request from an outside or the like, so that a black level luminance is reduced to improve dark place contrast. In addition, when the voltage level of the scanning selective signal is changed, a conversion table for converting an input luminance into a modulation signal is changed to another conversion table. Therefore, for example, it is possible to maintain a display gray-level characteristic before and after the voltage level of the scanning selective signal is changed.

摘要: In order to provide high-quality image display by correcting and uniformizing the nonuniformity of electron emission characteristics, a predetermined arithmetic operation is performed by using correction values for correcting the nonuniformities of luminance caused by the electron emission devices when a predetermined voltage is applied thereto, thereby calculating correction values when the voltage having a plurality of voltage amplitude values is applied thereto. Corrected image data are calculated on the basis of the calculated correction values, and a drive signal is outputted to drive the electron emission devices on the basis of the corrected image data.

摘要: An apparatus for and a method of moving a probe for causing a physical phenomenon to occur between it and a predetermined object and moving the probe and the object relative to each other to make the probe approach the object. At least one of the probe and the object is driven in a predetermined direction to displace one of the probe and the object in the predetermined direction relative to the other. A physical phenomenon occurring between the probe and the object is detected. At least one of the probe and the object is driven so as to bring the probe and the object close to each other. The driving for the approach of the probe to the object is controlled on the basis of the result of the detection of the physical phenomenon during the driving in the predetermined direction. The specification also discloses an information detection and/or input apparatus using such apparatus and method.

摘要: A scanning probe microscope is provided with a probe, a scanning device, a detecting device and an output device. The probe is disposed to face the surface of a sample. The scanning device two-dimensionally scans the surface of the sample using the probe. A signal corresponding to the structure of the sample is detected from the probe by the detecting device. From the signal detected in the detecting device, an observation image of the sample is output by the output device. The apparatus is further provided with a correcting device for correcting the scan by the scanning device so that the observation image output from the outputting device is not shifted.
