    摘要: A recording medium and method of performing recording/reproducing on the recording medium. The recording medium includes a multi-layer structure wherein at least two kinds of atomic layers are alternately laminated on a support. The elements of the atomic layers are selected so that they have secondary electron emission characteristics, such as secondary electron emission efficiency or secondary electron energy spectrums different from each other and do not form any alloy with each other, or so that a reacted mixture between the at least two kinds of atomic layers has secondary electron characteristics different from the atomic layers. The recording is performed by irradiating the surface of the recording medium with a recording beam selected from an electron beam, a charged particle beam, and a neutral particle beam to expose the next lower different kind of atomic layer of forma mixture. The reproducing is performed by irradiating the surface of the recording medium carrying information recorded thereon with a reproducing beam selected from the electron beam, a charged particle beam, and a neutral particle beam to emit secondary electrons from its surface thereof, and detecting the difference in the secondary electron emission characteristic between the emitted secondary electrons.

The contaminants may alternatively or additionally be removed directly from an upper surface of the substrate web by sandwiching one or more of its horizontal conveyance runs between a pair of magnets 22, 23, with the pole face area of the lower magnet being larger than that of the upper one.

    摘要: A method of making a magnetic film target for use in sputtering characterized by forming a film of a magnetic material on a substrate by ion-plating a raw magnetic material thereon. The raw magnetic material is either identical with the magnetic film material or an ingredient or ingredients for constituting it. In the latter case, one or more metallic ingredients are simultaneously ion-plated in the same system to form a magnetic alloy or compound film on the substrate. To prepare a magnetic alloy target in which the composition changes in the thickness direction, the ion plating ratio of respective metallic ingredients is changed with time.

The method includes initially DC-magnetizing a transfer-recipient disc in a circumferential direction, by applying a magnetic field to the transfer-recipient disc in the circumferential direction thereof bringing initially DC-magnetized transfer-recipient disc and a master disc into close contact with each other, on the top side of the master disc a magnetic layer including a great number of protrusions that configure a magnetic pattern being formed; and executing magnetic transfer in such a way that a magnetic-field generation device is provided, and that, when a magnetic field is applied in a circumferential direction to the transfer-recipient disc and the master disc, transfer of the magnetic pattern of the master disc onto the transfer-recipient disc occurs.
