    Abstract: An article comprises a weatherable surface exposed to precipitation or airborne debris; and a weather resistant coating disposed on the weatherable surface, wherein the coating comprises component A, a one- or two-part room temperature vulcanizable polyorganosiloxane composition; and component B, an ice release-enhancing proportion of at least one polyorganosiloxane comprising one or more silanol or alkoxy-silyl groups and comprising from about 10 weight percent to about 85 weight percent of at least one hydroxy-terminated or alkoxy-terminated polyoxyalkylenealkyl radical; and any reaction products thereof. In another embodiment, an article comprises a weatherable surface exposed to precipitation or airborne debris; and a weather resistant coating disposed on the weatherable surface, wherein the coating includes a one- or two-part addition curable polyorganosiloxane composition comprising a resin polymer and a crosslinker, wherein the resin polymer and/or crosslinker comprises an ice release-enhancing proportion of covalently bound hydrophilic functionality that contributes from about 0.5 weight percent to about 40 weight percent of the coating composition; and any reaction products thereof.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a topical composition for treating amino acid based substrates comprising a protected thiol compound having the formula R—(S—Pr)m where R is a functional group, S is sulfur, and Pr is a heterocyclic protecting group, and m is an integer between 1 and 100. The invention further relates to systems which comprise this protected thiol compound and an activating mechanism. The protected thiol compounds of the present invention may be used in hair care compositions, textile care compositions, cosmetic compositions, oral care compositions, skin care, nail care, laundry care, acne care and animal care compositions. A preferred embodiment of the present invention provides a silicone composition and method for making. The composition comprises a polysiloxane or silicone resin, at least one linker, and at least one molecular hook.

    Abstract: The instant invention provides a process for reducing chloride content from by-products generated during production of methylchlorosilanes, comprising, (a) hydrolyzing the by-products by combining the by-products with an aqueous medium, the aqueous medium optionally comprising a surfactant, at a pH of at least about 7 and at a temperature above about 0.degree. C. to yield a first phase comprising essentially solids and a second phase comprising an aqueous phase; (b) separating the first and second phase; and (c) oxidizing the solids from the first phase at a temperature of at least about 300.degree. C. for up to about 24 hours to yield a residue comprising less than about 1% by weight of chloride. The solids from the first phase may alternatively be reduced under a hydrogen flow, at a temperature of at least about 500.degree. C. for up to about 24 hours.
