Abstract:
Device for removing a total vascular occlusion with the aid of a CTO catheter with expansion tongs arranged at the front end and OCT monitoring, the CTO catheter being combined with an OCT catheter to form an integrated unit.
Abstract:
A system and method of diagnosing kidney syndromes using an intravenous pyelogram (IVP) is described. The system includes an X-ray imaging device and an in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) device. The IVD device is used to identify risk factors such as sensitivity to contrast agents, or to indicate or rule out other syndromes which may have symptoms similar to kidney malfunction. The level of blood components such as creatinine may be used, in conjunction with other medical data and IVD tests, to determine a risk score for the patient. The risk score may be used to recommend modifications to a baseline procedure such as change in the volume or type of contrast agent, the number of X-rays, or the performance of post-procedure dialysis.
Abstract:
A catheter for removing plaque in a blood vessel and a medical apparatus comprising a catheter of this kind are proposed. The catheter has a catheter sheath, a cutter for removing plaque disposed in the region of the distal end of the catheter sheath, a catheter tip disposed in the region of the distal end of the catheter sheath and bendable relative to the catheter sheath, and at least one imaging sensor arranged in the region of the distal end of the catheter sheath or in the bendable catheter tip. The image signals recorded by means of the catheter are transmitted for display purposes to an image processing and playback device. A method for assisting a minimally invasive intervention to remove plaque in a blood vessel by the catheter is also provided.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for diagnosing and treating stroke is described. A preliminary diagnosis of a stroke and the type of stroke is made based on a patient anamnesis and an in-vitro diagnostic device (IVD), configured to analyze biomarkers in a patient blood sample. In one example, the diagnosis is confirmed using a C-arm X-ray device and, if a hemorrhagic stroke is confirmed, interventional therapy may be performed using the C-arm X-ray device to guide a catheter or other interventional device. Where an ischemic stroke is confirmed, the appropriate thrombolytic therapy may be administered. The IVD device may be located in an emergency vehicle, and the test may be results transmitted to the medical facility while the patient is in transit.
Abstract:
At least one embodiment of the present invention refers to a method, a system, a computer readable medium and/or a computer program product for optimizing a clinical pathway. The clinical pathway includes a sequence of actions. In at least one embodiment, he method aims at finding the best suitable and optimal following action for a respective action. There is provided a set of rules, patient information data and optimization criteria. After having received a symptom or an action there is deduced a set of possible following actions. After having deduced all possible following actions, these possible following actions are evaluated by the optimization criteria. After evaluation the optimal following action is suggested as a result.
Abstract:
There is described an x-ray system with an x-ray source, an x-ray detector and at least one industrial robot having at least three, in particular six, axes of rotation, in which the x-ray source and/or the x-ray detector are/is arranged, directly or by means of a bearer, on the industrial robot, and where the industrial robot is constructed to be mobile, in particular is arranged on a device trolley.
Abstract:
An in vitro assay is disclosed for early diagnosis of insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus type 1. In at least one embodiment, the assay includes i) determining susceptibility markers for diabetes mellitus type 1 in a biological sample from a symptom-free individual; ii) determining inflammatory markers in the same or in a further biological sample from the individual; iii) determining the presence or the risk of developing insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus type 1 on the basis of the values obtained in i) and ii); and, possibly, iv) performing step ii) after a defined time interval or v) performing an imaging method for the pancreas. At least one embodiment is further directed to the use of this assay for monitoring the progression of a diabetes mellitus type 1 disease.
Abstract:
A catheter for treatment of the heart with a flexible catheter sheath surrounding a catheter lumen and with an apparatus for implanting cell material, which comprises an injection apparatus arranged in an area of the catheter tip, is to be created such that the risk of such an intervention is reduced in relation to previously known and practiced concepts. To this end there is inventive provision for at least one imaging sensor to be arranged in the area of the catheter tip.
Abstract:
A medical cushion is provided. The medical cushion has at least one x-ray positive and at least one electromagnetic marker and a soft filler material that yields to the force exerted by the weight of a patient and molds itself at least to some extent to the surface of the body of the patient is provided. The soft filler material is arranged in the cushion in such a manner that it lies between the surface of the body of the patient and at least one x-ray positive and at least one electromagnetic marker when the cushion is in use.
Abstract:
An examination unit, which can be used especially in the area of acute and intensive diagnostics in hospitals (e.g. in emergency rooms, intensive care units, operating theaters etc.) or in ambulances is provided. The examination unit which at least has an ultrasonic device, patient monitor, ECG, ventilator and/or resuscitation device for monitoring the vital functions and/or for the immediate medical treatment of emergency patients with symptoms of acute cardiovascular disease, myocardial infarction, angina, apoplectic stroke, etc. The device furthermore according to the invention includes an integrated mini-laboratory analysis unit for the biochemical and/or cell-biology investigation of blood samples or tissue biopsies.
