Abstract:
This invention relates to biodegradable starch-based pellets which foamable by irradiation, which are particularly suitable for the manufacture of foam articles, characterised in that they have a porous structure with a low porous external skin. This invention also relates to foam articles obtained from these.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a process for obtaining highly pure aliphatic dialkyl esters of saturated dicarboxylic acids from vegetable oils, which can advantageously be used in polymerisation. The process comprises the steps of reacting with an aliphatic alcohol a triglycerides mixture containing at least one triglyceride of at least one saturated dicarboxylic acid in the presence of one or more catalysts capable of catalysing the esterification and transesterification reactions, and separating the dialkyl esters of saturated dicarboxylic acids from the reaction mixture thus obtained.
Abstract:
This invention relates to the use of a composition of aliphatic esters having the following general formula: R1—O—C(O)—R4—C(O)—[—O—R2—O—C(O)—R5—C(O)—]m—O—R3 in which: R1 is selected from one or more of the groups consisting of H, linear and branched saturated and unsaturated alkyl residues of the C1-C24 type, and polyol residues esterified with C1-C24 monocarboxylic acids; R2 comprises —CH2—C(CH3)2—CH2— and C2-C8 alkylene groups, and comprises at least 50% in moles of the said —CH2—C(CH3)2—CH2— groups; R3 is selected from one or more of the groups consisting of H, linear and branched saturated and unsaturated alkyl residues of the C1-C24 type, and polyol residues esterified with C1-C24 monocarboxylic acids; R4 and R5 comprise one or more C2-C22 alkylenes and comprise at least 50% in moles of C7 alkylenes; m lies between 1 and 20, as plasticizers for polymer compositions. These esters are particularly suitable for use as plasticizers for various types of polymers such as for example vinyl polymers of the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) type, thermoplastic elastomers, and hydroxy acid polyesters, for example polyesters of lactic acid.
Abstract:
Mixed aliphatic-aromatic polyesters having suitable thermal properties and terminal acidity characterised by having a dicarboxylic component comprising at least three saturated aliphatic C4-C24 dicarboxylic acids, their C1-C24 alkyl esters, their salts and their mixtures, azelaic acid and succinic acid always being present.
Abstract:
Multilayer biodegradable film particularly suitable for use in the manufacture of packaging, comprising at least one layer (A) comprising at least one aliphatic-aromatic biodegradable polyester blended with an aliphatic polyester having at least 70% in moles of succinic acid, and at least one layer (B) comprising a polymer composition comprising an aliphatic-aromatic polymer. The film has high mechanical properties, in particular a high elastic modulus, and appreciable optical transparency properties.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process which makes it possible to obtain a plurality of organic compounds that can be used as chemical intermediates through the use of waste cellulosic biomass as a raw material. Through this process fermentable saccharides can be extracted, separated and recovered from said waste cellulosic biomass.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for the reuse in polymerization of a biodegradable polymeric composition re) comprising a mixture of polyesters. The process comprises the steps of: 1) reacting said polymeric composition with water at a temperature higher than the melting temperature of at least one of said polyesters, obtaining a depolymerization product comprising monomers of said polyesters and/or their oligomers in a mixture, 2) separating from said depolymerization product a fraction comprising impurities and/or fillers, 3) subjecting said monomers and/or oligomers to polymerization, in quantities from 1% to 100% by weight, with respect to the mixture subjected to polymerization, obtaining a polymeric composition biodegradable. Further objects of the invention are the polymers obtained by means of said reuse process, the biodegradable polymeric compositions that comprise said polymers and the biodegradable articles obtained from said composition
