An image processing apparatus includes: an image compressing unit that acquires compressed image information by compressing image information that is outputted by a camera and outputs the acquired compressed image information; an image analyzing unit that acquires analyzed information by analyzing the image information that is outputted by the camera and outputs the acquired analyzed information; an output switching unit that outputs, as output information, either one of the compressed image information that is outputted by the image compressing unit and the analyzed information that is outputted by the image analyzing unit; and an output unit that outputs, to another apparatus, the output information that is outputted by the output switching unit.
