    摘要: A process is provided for oxygenating alkyl-substituted aromatic compounds. In the process alkyl-substituted aromatic compounds are contacted with molecular oxygen in the presence of a suitable monocarboxylic acid, an at least partially soluble Te or Se compound, an inorganic bromine compound, and a compound selected from inorganic nitrates and compounds convertible to inorganic nitrates at conditions of the process. In an embodiment of the invention the process is carried out in two distinct steps with contact of the alkyl-substituted aromatic compounds and oxygen in the presence of the essential components produce an ester comprising both an aromatic alcohol and the carboxylic acid with subsequent hydrolyzing of this ester to produce an aromatic alcohol with regeneration of the carboxylic acid.

    摘要: A process for preparing a pillared interlayered clay comprises heating a smectite clay containing material with a solution comprising a polymeric cationic hydroxy metal complex of a suitable metal (preferably aluminum) and a surfactant having the formula of R.sup.1 --O--(CHR.sup.2 --CHR.sup.2 O).sub.x H, wherein, R.sup.1 is an aliphatic C.sub.6 H.sub.13 --C.sub.24 H.sub.49 hydrocarbyl radical, R.sub.2 is hydrogen or the methyl group, and x is about 3-7. The thus prepared pillared interlayered clay exhibits high surface area, high methane storage capacity and high resolution in separating gaseous hydrocarbons.

    摘要: A process for preparing a poly(arylene sulfide) and copolymer thereof from a poly(arylene sulfide disulfide) is provided which comprises contacting the poly(arylene sulfide disulfide) with a polyhalo-substituted cyclic compound having unsaturation between adjacent ring carbon atoms and having halogen atoms attached to the ring carbon atoms in a polar organic compound and a basic compound at an elevated temperature. Alternatively, the poly(arylene sulfide disulfide) can be substantially dissolved in the polar organic solvent at elevated temperature to form fragments which can be contacted with the polyhalo-substituted cyclic compound in a polar organic compound and a basic compound at an elevated temperature. The fragments also can be isolated, recovered and then contacted with the polyhalo-substituted cyclic compound in a polar organic compound and a basic compound at an elevated temperature.
