Abstract: A respiratory mask assembly for delivering breathable gas to a patient includes a frame having a front surface and a rear surface, opposite the front surface, and adapted in use to face the patient. The frame defines an inner wall and an outer wall extending from the rear surface, the inner and outer walls being spaced to define a channel therebetween. A cushion is removably attachable to the frame such that the cushion and frame are repeatably engagable with and disengagable from one another. The cushion includes a side wall to be inserted into the channel of the frame, the side wall having a first interlocking surface that engages a second interlocking surface provided in the channel when the cushion and frame are engaged with one another. The first and second interlocking surfaces interlock with one another to removably attach the cushion to the frame.

An elbow assembly is swivelably coupled to the front surface of the frame. The elbow assembly includes a swivel elbow that defines an intake port and an exhaust port separated from the intake port using a baffle. The elbow assembly includes an end portion that interfaces with the aperture of the frame.

Abstract: A respiratory apparatus for treating a patient with a respiratory disorder includes a blower configured to generate a supply of pressurized breathable gas. The blower includes a gas inlet and a gas outlet. The gas outlet is configured to deliver the generated supply of pressurized breathable gas to an outlet of the respiratory apparatus for delivery to the patient. The blower also includes an impeller configured to rotate to generate the supply of pressurized gas. The impeller has a single shroud with a plurality of blades extending from a surface of the shroud in an upstream direction relative to the direction of flow of the pressurized breathable gas. Each of the plurality of blades radiate outwards from a hub in the shroud. The hub is configured to receive a motor shaft. In addition, the outer diameter of the shroud varies between maximum portions with a maximum outer diameter and minimum portions with a minimum outer diameter.

Abstract: A flow regulation vent for use in controlling a vent flow of washout gas in a system for supplying breathable gas pressurized to within a therapeutic pressure range above atmospheric pressure to a patient in the treatment of a sleep disordered breathing condition is disclosed. The flow regulation vent may include a housing having at least one vent orifice and at least one fixed bleed orifice; and a flap configured to regulate the vent flow of washout gas through the at least one vent orifice, wherein the at least one fixed bleed orifice is not covered by the flap in any position and the flow regulation vent provides a minimum vent flow independent of the position of the flap.

Abstract: A respiratory mask assembly for delivering breathable gas to a patient includes a frame having a main body and a side frame member provided on each lateral side of the main body. Each side frame member includes an integrally formed first connector portion. A headgear assembly is removably attachable to the frame. The headgear assembly has a second connector portion adapted to be removably coupled with the first connector portion provided on the frame. The second connector portion is manually movable to a releasing position to detach the headgear assembly from the frame. The headgear assembly is rotationally adjustable with respect to the frame.
