Abstract: A thermoplastic composition comprises: a copolycarbonate comprising bisphenol A carbonate units and second carbonate units of the formula (I) and optionally, a bisphenol A homopolycarbonate; wherein the second carbonate units are present in an amount of 10 to 49 mol % based on the sum of the moles of the copolycarbonate and the bisphenol A homopolycarbonate, the copolycarbonate comprises less than 2 ppm by weight of each of an ion of lithium, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, ammonium, chlorine, bromine, fluorine, nitrite, nitrate, phosphite, phosphate, sulfate, formate, acetate, citrate, oxalate, trimethylammonium, and triethylammonium, as measured by ion chromatography, and the thermoplastic composition has a bisphenol A purity of at least 99.6%, or at least 99.7% as determined by high performance liquid chromatography. The thermoplastic composition has a Vicat B120 of 155° C. or higher; and an increase in yellowness index of less than 10 during 1000 hours of heat aging at 155° C.

Abstract: A melt-blend composition is formed from, based on the total weight of the melt-blend composition, 0 to 5 wt. % of an additive; and 95 to 100 wt. % of a polymer composition, wherein the polymer composition comprises, based on the total weight of the polymer composition, 5 to 95 wt. % of a first copolycarbonate consisting of bisphenol A carbonate units and first additional carbonate units of the formula (II), (II), (III), (IV) or (V); 95 to 5 wt. % of a second copolycarbonate consisting of bisphenol A carbonate units and second additional carbonate units (phthalimidine carbonate units); and 0.001 to 0.1 wt. % of a transesterification catalyst, wherein the melt-blended composition has a haze of less than 15% and a transmission greater than 75%, each measured using the color space CIE1931 (Illuminant C and a 2° observer) at a 3.2 mm thickness.

Abstract: A thermoplastic composition comprises, based on the total weight of the thermoplastic composition, 10 to 45 wt. % of a poly(etherimide); 35 to 90 wt. % of a polycarbonate component comprising a polycarbonate homopolymer, a poly(carbonate-siloxane), or a combination thereof; 0.5 to 20 wt. % of a compatibilizer polycarbonate component comprising a poly(carbonate-arylate ester), a phthalimidine copolycarbonate, or a combination thereof; up to 5 wt. % of an ultraviolet light stabilizer; and 0 to 20 wt. % of TiO2,wherein a sample of the composition has a 50% higher notched Izod impact energy value compared to the composition without the compatibilizer component.

Abstract: A polycarbonate composition comprises: 30 to 95 wt % of one or more bisphenol A polycarbonate homopolymers; and 5 to 70 wt % of a poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer with a siloxane content of 10 wt. % to 25 wt. % based on the total weight of the poly(carbonate-siloxane), in an amount effective to provide a total siloxane content of 0.5 wt. % to 17.5 wt. % based on the total weight of the composition; the poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer comprising bisphenol carbonate units and siloxane units of the formulas or a combination comprising at least one of the foregoing, wherein E has an average value of 10 to 100, preferably 20 to 60, more preferably 30 to 50; wherein in the poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer less than 0.5 mol % of the siloxane units are directly coupled to another siloxane units.

Abstract: A polycarbonate composition comprises: a first poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer comprising carbonate units and siloxane units, wherein less than 0.5 mol % of the siloxane units are directly coupled to another siloxane unit; the first poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer comprising siloxane units with an average block length of about 10 to about 100, and a siloxane content from 5 wt % to 8 wt %; a second poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer comprising carbonate units and siloxane units, wherein less than 0.5 mol % of the siloxane units are directly coupled to another siloxane unit; the second poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer comprising siloxane units with an average block length of 10 to 100, a siloxane content from 10 wt % to 30 wt %, and wherein the weight ratio of the first poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer to the second poly(carbonate-siloxane) copolymer is 2 to 20; and optionally a bisphenol polycarbonate; wherein the polycarbonate composition has a total siloxane content of 2.5 wt % to 10 wt % and a molded part of 1 mm thickness has a haze of less than 2% as measured by HazeGard (ASTM D1003-00).
