摘要: Proposed is an optical disk device capable of appropriately performing focus control. In an optical disk device, an objective lens is moved in the thickness direction of an optical disk by controlling an actuator and a time interval in which each of the recording layers was detected is measured while moving the objective lens, a first time interval from the first detection of the recording layer to the second detection of the recording layer is compared with a second time interval from the second detection of the recording layer to the third detection of the recording layer, and a focal position of the objective lens is determined based on the comparative result.

摘要: A navigation server for assisting guidance of moving objects such as automobiles by a navigation device while considering the level of safety of each link in the area where a disaster has occurred and adequately evaluating the safety in consideration of the actual disaster situation. A navigation service extracts links included in a disaster area and evaluates the cost of each of the extracted links according to probe information. The probability of reflection of the adverse influence of the disaster on spatial and temporal movement patterns of an automobile represented by the probe information is high. Therefore, the level of safety of each link in the disaster area can be adequately evaluated so that the adverse influence of the disaster can be avoided.

摘要: Collectors are provided on a pair of exhaust passages extending in parallel from an internal combustion engine respectively. Each of the collectors collects black smoke particles (unclean substance) included in exhaust gas. One of a pair of differential pressure detectors detects a first differential pressure between upstream and downstream of one of the collectors while the other differential pressure detector detects a second differential pressure between upstream and downstream of the other collector. Upon finishing a regeneration process of removing the black smoke particles in each of the collectors, a control computer estimates an exhaust gas flow rate of each of the exhaust passages based on the first differential pressure and the second differential pressure.

摘要: A signal processor executes a required process based on a program stored in a RAM connected to the signal processor. The program is transferred from a ROM connected to a CPU, as requested. When the CPU determines based on the status of the RAM that the contents of a particular one of instructions which compose a particular program among the programs stored in the ROM should be changed, the CPU changes the contents of the instruction and transfers the changed instruction to the RAM. When a first one of a plurality of programs stored in the RAM is replaced with a second program transferred from the ROM, and the areas of the RAM used by the first and second programs are different, the CPU also changes the contents of instructions of other programs which are not required to be replaced.

摘要: An engine control system of a multiple cylinder engine shifts operation between operation with all the cylinders operated and operation with a portion of the cylinders rested under a predetermined condition. When the operation with all the cylinders operated is shifted to operation with the number of the operating cylinders reduced, a control value for controlling the cylinder, such as an amount of fuel to be supplied or an ignition timing, is corrected in a direction of increasing output of the engine, the cylinder being in process of combustion immediately prior to a shift from the operation with all the cylinders operated to the operation with the number of the operating cylinders being reduced.

摘要: A display such as meter panel and advertising display comprises a color image forming layer provided on a light-transmitting permanent support via a photo-polymerizable adhesive layer, and a photo-polymerizable image-receiving layer closely adhered to the color image forming layer. The display can be effectively produced by a process comprising the steps of forming a color image on a photo-polymerizable image-receiving layer of a photosensitive image-receiving material, placing it upon a photo-polymerizable adhesive layer formed on a light-transmitting permanent support to form a laminate so that the photo-polymerizable image-receiving layer and the photo-polymerizable adhesive layer face each other and then exposing the laminate to light so as to closely adhere the photo-polymerizable image-receiving layer and the photo-polymerizable adhesive layer to their adjacent layers, respectively, by the photo-polymerization. By this method, the adhesion between the photo-polymerizable image-receiving layer and the light-transmitting permanent support is improved.

摘要: A method for purifying impure hexamethyldisiloxane comprising as a major portion hexamethyldisiloxane and as a minor portion a mixture of low-boiling organic solvents, other organosilicon compounds, and odor-producing materials is described. The method comprises (A) first, treating the impure hexamethyldisiloxane with a condensation catalyst to convert the organosilicon compounds to additional hexamethyldisiloxane; (B) second, washing the treated impure hexamethyldisiloxane with water; (C) third, separating a water phase from the washed impure hexamethyldisiloxane; (D) fourth, distilling the washed impure hexamethyldisiloxane to yield hexamethyldisiloxane of enhanced purity; (E) fifth, contacting the hexamethyldisiloxane of enhanced purity with acid clay at a temperature of greater than about 50.degree. C.; and (F) finally, contacting the acid clay treated hexamethyldisiloxane of enhanced purity treated in (E) with activated carbon to yield hexamethyldisiloxane with enhanced purity and minimal unpleasant odor.
