A thermoplastic elastomer based on olefin which can be produced simply by melt-kneading 5-60% by weight of a polyethylene resin (A) together with 40-95% by weight of an ethylene/&agr;-olefin copolymer (B) with optional subsidiary component(s) before the kneaded mass is molded into a formed product, the said elastomer being capable of recycling for reclamation and exhibiting the following characteristics {circle around (1)} to {circle around (3)} namnely, 9≦Y−0.43 X≦27 (1) {circle around (1)} in which X denotes the JIS A-hardness value (a dimensionless value) of the thermoplastic elastomer based on olefin determined according to the prescription of JIS K 6301 and Y represents the permanent compressive strain value (expressed by %) of the thermoplastic elastomer based on olefin determined according to the prescription of JIS K 6301 under a condition of 70° C.×22 hours, {circle around (2)} tensile strength in the raqnge from 5 to 30 MPa and {circle around (3)} a permanent elongation of 18% or less determined according to the prescription of JIS K 6301.

The foamed laminate based on olefin according to the present invention is composed of a substrate layer of a foamed body made of either an ethylenic thermoplastic elastomer comprising a polyethylene resin and an ethylene/α-olefin copolymer having a Mooney viscosity ML1+4 (100° C.) of 90-250 and an ethylene content of 70-95 mole % or an ethylenic thermoplastic elastomer composition comprising 100 parts by weight of an olefinic thermoplastic elastomer and 1-20 parts by weight of an olefinic thermoplastic resin and, under lamination thereon, a skin layer made of either an ultrahigh molecular weight polyolefin resin having an intrinsic viscosity of 3.5-8.3 dl/g or made of an olefinic thermoplastic elastomer composition comprising an olefinic thermoplastic elastomer and a lubricant. The foamed laminate according to the present invention is easy in recycled use, obtainable at a high foaming expansion ratio with soft hand touch and is superior in the appearance, abrasion resistance, durability and sliding performance.

An olefin-based thermoplastic elastomer composition comprising a thermoplastic elastomer blended with other resins and rubbers is provided. The thermoplastic elastomer contains polypropylene resin and an olefin-based copolymer rubber, and optionally, a linear polyethylene resin, and the thermoplastic elastomer has been crosslinked to a gel content of 95% or higher. A polyolefin resin, an olefin-based copolymer rubber and a softening agent are further blended with optional inorganic filler to provide the olefin-based thermoplastic elastomer composition. This composition is excellent in oil resistance and extrudability, and well-adapted for use as an energy-saving, resources-saving elastomer in applications including surface or skin material in autoparts, industrial mechanical parts, electric and electronic parts, and construction materials.

Disclouse is an olefin thermoplastic elastomer foamed product obtained by heating a foamable composition comprising a partially crosslinked thermoplastic elastomer composition (A), a specific olefin plastic (B) and a foaming agent (C) in specific proportions. The partially crosslinked thermoplastic elastomer (A) is obtained by dynamically heat-treating a mixture in the presence of organic peroxide, said mixture comprising specific proportions of a peroxide-crosslinkable copolymer rubber (a), which is a specific ethylene/.alpha.-olefin/nonconjugated diene copolymer rubber, and a peroxide-decomposable olefin plastic (b), which is a (co)polymer containing 50 to 100% by mol of an .alpha.-olefin of 3 to 20 carbon atoms and has a specific MFR. The olefin plastic (B) is a (co)polymer containing 50 to 100% by mol of an .alpha.-olefin of 2 to 20 carbon atoms and has a specific MFR. Also disclosed is a process for preparing the olefin thermoplastic elastomer foamed product. The foamed product of the invention is free from surface roughening caused by defoaming even when an expansion ratio is 2 or more times. Besides, the foamed product is soft to the touch and shows excellent heat resistance and weathering resistance. According to the process of the invention, the foamed product can be prepared through simplified steps with high productivity.

The thickness of a single year of hard film is between about 0.2 and 1.5 .mu.m and the total film thickness at the laminated portion is less than about 3 .mu.m. Preferably, each hard film layer is between about 0.2 and 0.8 .mu.m.
