Abstract:
A method of generating an antibody comprising the steps of: immunizing a tissue containing cells for immunization in vitro in a culture liquid containing an antigen and a stimulating substance, selecting the immunized cells, and obtaining antibodies from the above selected immunized cells. According to this method of generating an antibody, antibodies can be prepared in a short period of time in large quantities, thereby contributing to the increased use of immunological testing.
Abstract:
A method for performing data backups is disclosed. An initial backup operation is performed on all datasets within a recording medium. A subsequent backup operation is performed on any of the datasets in a day at which the dataset has been rewritten or in a day at which a predetermined period for the dataset expires, whichever day comes first. The subsequent backup operation is performed on any of the datasets until another initial backup operation needs to be performed on all of the datasets again.
Abstract:
A sensor array having a plurality of pressure sensors arranged on a measurement surface, a pressurization portion for pressing the sensor array laid across an artery of a living body, a sensor signal selection portion for selecting a pressure signal among pressure signals from the plurality of pressure sensors, a filter portion having a cutoff frequency variable corresponding to an instruction, and a filter control portion for providing an instruction to vary a value of the cutoff frequency are included. The filter control portion switches the cutoff frequency in a situation wherein a plurality of pressure signals respectively obtained from the plurality of pressure sensors are successively switched and output by the sensor signal selection portion to specify the pressure sensor for pulse wave detection, and in a situation wherein the pulse wave is detected from the specified pressure sensor.
Abstract:
A pulse wave measuring apparatus including a semiconductor substrate having a pressure-sensing device on a main surface and a protection member with an accommodation space therein for accommodating the semiconductor substrate detects a pulse wave of an artery located in a living body by pressing the semiconductor substrate against the body. A wall surface of the protection member that forms the accommodation space is arranged such that an air chamber is interposed between the wall surface and an end surface of the semiconductor substrate that is exposed to air. A pulse wave measuring apparatus of this structure allows accurate and stable measurement of the pulse wave.
Abstract:
In a power transmission path of a vehicle for traveling on uneven ground, a torque converter is provided so that torque transmission to a propeller shaft varies smoothly. Accordingly, it is difficult for the torque transmitted to the propeller shaft to exceed a tire slip limit. This arrangement suppresses slippage during traveling on uneven ground such as a muddy, marshy, sandy, snowy, or gravel road surfaces.
Abstract:
An improved process for the production of 5-amino-1,2,4-thiadiazol-3-yl-(2-(lower)-alkoxyimino)acetic acids starting from 5-substituted- or unsubstituted-3-aminoisoxazole compounds is disclosed herein. The title compounds are useful as acylating agents for the production of 7-acylaminocephalosporins.
Abstract:
A NAND bus interface independently receives 16 ready/busy signals from 16 flash EEPROM chips and thereby separately manages the operating states of these flash EEPROMs. Once a flash EEPROM as a write access target is set in a ready state, a write access to this write access target flash EEPROM is started without waiting for completion of the operations of all the flash EEPROMs. Each flash EEPROM is of a command control type capable of automatically executing a write operation. This allows parallel processing of the flash EEPROMs, i.e., a write access to a given EEPROM can be performed while a data write to another flash EEPROM is being executed. An ECC calculating circuit calculates a data string transferred in units of 256 bytes from a data buffer by a processor, and generates an ECC corresponding to that data string. The 256-byte data string is added with the generated ECC and transferred to a data register of a flash EEPROM. Even if abnormal cells are produced at the same bit position in a plurality of pages of a flash EEPROM, only one abnormal cell is contained in a data string as an object of the ECC calculation. This makes it possible to perform error detection and correction by a common simple ECC calculation without using any complicated ECC arithmetic expression with a high data recovery capability.

Abstract:
In order to reduce the space requirements of an internal combustion engine the starter apparatus therefor includes an axially elongated intermediate gear shaft containing gears at each end, one of which meshes with the starter motor pinion and the other of which meshes with the ring gear on the crankshaft.
Abstract:
An oil pump organization for an internal combustion engine is described in which the pump rotor is operatively connected to a transmission gear shaft in order to eliminate the need for a pump drive shaft and to thereby reduce engine space requirements.
