摘要: The present invention discloses a polycyclic norbornene-based ring-opening polymer which comprises(A) 90-5% by mol of a repeating unit represented by the following formula [I] or the alkyl-substituted derivative thereof, and(B) 10-95% by mol of at least one repeating unit selected from a repeating unit represented by the following formula [II], the alkyl-substituted derivative thereof, a repeating unit represented by the following formula [III], the alkyl-substituted derivative thereof, or the alkylidene-substituted derivative thereof, and which has an intrinsic viscosity [.eta.] of 0.01-20 dl/g as determined in toluene at 25.degree. C., the hydrogenation products thereof, and a process for production thereof ##STR1## wherein ------ denotes a single bond or a double bond.

摘要: A process for the production of a molded or formed article provided with a hard coat layer, which comprises coating a surface of a thermoplastic saturated norbornene polymer molded or formed article with a UV curable hard coating layer containing a solvent of an aromatic hydrocarbon series and/or solvent of an alicyclic hydrocarbon series, drying the resultant coating, and irradiating the dried coating with UV ray, and a molded or formed article provided with a hard coat layer having high hardness and excellent bond strength.

摘要: The present invention provides a thermoplastic composition excellent in heat resistance and water resistance which comprises a thermoplastic saturated norbornene polymer which has a number-average molecular weight (Mn) of 50,000-500,000 and a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of 100,000-2,000,000 which are measured by high performance liquid chromatography, and a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 2.2 or more, and a volatile content of at most 0.3% by weight. The composition is suitable for optical materials, electroconductive composite materials and optical recording media.

摘要: A molded article, particularly for optical use, formed of a thermoplastic saturated norbornene-based polymer composition including a thermoplastic saturated norbornene-based polymer excellent in heat resistance, etc., and a filler, the composition being capable of preventing cracks even when an insertion part having a linear expansion coefficient greatly different from that of the polymer is present and a thermal change occurs. The filler is selected from a fibrous filler and a combination of a fibrous filler with a powdery filler.

摘要: A composition including a thermoplastic saturated norbornene group polymer and a partially etherified product of a polyhydric alcohol having at least 3 hydroxyl groups incorporated thereinto. The composition exhibits excellent adhesion to the recording film of an optical disk and adhesion to a hard coating film or a protective film formed by coating an acrylic ultraviolet curing coating material or like films without deteriorating the excellent heat resistance and transparency inherent to thermoplastic saturated norbornene group polymers. An optical disk substrate formed of this composition and an optical disk including the optical disk substrate and an information recording film and/or a light reflecting film and a protective film laminated thereon are also disclaimed.

摘要: A phase plate comprises, as a birefringent layer, a film obtained by stretching and orienting a sheet of a thermoplastic saturated norbornene resin, which has been formed by melt forming. The phase plate of the invention is such that the birefringent layer is optically even at the whole surface, and such optical evenness remains constant even by changes of temperature, humidity and/or the like. The phase plate of the invention can be used in parts for polarization microscopes, parts for liquid crystal displays, etc., and is particularly suitable for use in a phase plate for liquid crystal displays.
