摘要: A method of fabricating a functionally graded turbine engine component is disclosed and includes the step of depositing layers of powder onto a base and solidifying/fusing each layer with a first directed energy beam to define a component. The method further includes varying a process parameter between deposited layers to define different material properties within the component. The method also proposes surface enhancement approach that can be used after depositing each layer to locally customize the material properties. The method also proposes machining the different internal surfaces to achieve the proper surface finishing required.

摘要: An additively manufactured alloy component has a first portion formed of the alloy and having a first grain size, and a second portion formed of the alloy and having a second grain size smaller than the first grain size. In an embodiment, the alloy component is an alloy turbine disk, the first portion is a rim region of the alloy turbine disk, and the second portion is a hub region of the alloy turbine disk. The first and second grain sizes may be achieved by controllably varying the laser power and/or scan speed during additive manufacturing.

Aspects are directed to a case of an engine, including: a first portion with a first material that has a first microstructure, and a second portion with a second material that has a second microstructure, where the second microstructure is matched to the first microstructure, where the second material includes a plurality of layers, and where at least one layer of the plurality of layers includes a compressive residual stress.

摘要: A pressure vessel configured to store a pressurized fluid is provided including a plurality of lobes. Each lobe includes at least one vertically arranged interior wall. The plurality of lobes are positioned in a side by side configuration such that a first interior wall of a first lobe is positioned adjacent a second interior wall of a second adjacent lobe. The first interior wall and the second interior wall are configured to contact one another at a first point of tangency. A first tangent intersects the first lobe at the first point of tangency and a second tangent intersects the second lobe at the first point of tangency. The first tangent and the second tangent are separated by about 120 degrees.

摘要: A machining process includes providing a cutting tool having a rake face and a flank face; bringing the cutting tool into contact with a metal alloy work piece to form a chip by penetrating the cutting tool into the workpiece; and introducing a nanofluid into a vicinity of the penetration to remove heat and, in some instances, customize the finished surface. The nanofluid includes a mixture of a cryo-liquid and nanoparticles having a maximum size of approximately 0.1 nanometers to approximately 100 nanometers.

A roller disk is joined to the lower portion of the hub, and is rotatable about the second axis parallel to the second portion of the hub. A load cell is disposed along the first axis between a proximal end of the shaft and the roller disk, and is adapted to measure a downward force applied along the shaft assembly.

摘要: A method for deep roll peening a workpiece includes deep roll peening a workpiece by moving the workpiece along a feed path through multiple groups of opposed rollers that are arranged in series. Each group of opposed rollers includes a rim that defines a workpiece engagement surface that exerts a deep roll peening force on the workpiece. A deep roll peening system includes multiple groups of opposed rollers. Each of the opposed rollers is rotatably mounted and has a rim that defines a workpiece engagement surface. The workpiece engagement surfaces are spaced apart from each other by a gap. The groups are arranged in series such that the gaps define a feed path for receiving a workpiece into serial contact with the workpiece engagement surfaces.
