摘要： A terminal connection for a flat stab of an electrical terminal includes a spring clip which retains a nut in alignment with an aperture in the flat stab. The spring clip is fabricated from a strip of resilient electrically conductive material and has a top wall with a central aperture, side walls extending downward from the top wall and having slots therein, and outwardly projecting flanges on the bottom edge of each of the side walls. A square nut is retained in the spring clip by lateral projections on the nut engaged in the slots in the side walls with the tapped hole in the nut aligned with the aperture in the top wall of the clip. The fastener assembly clips onto the end of the flat stab which is in a recess in the electrical terminal, with the stab between the nut and the top wall of the spring clip. The outer edges of the flanges on the spring clip frictionally engage against the opposite sides of the recess in the terminal to retain the spring clip and nut in the terminal until a screw is passed through the apertures in the top wall and the flat stab engages the nut to secure a conductor to the stab. The slots in the side walls of the clip prevent rotation of the nut and provide positive stops which resist loss of the nut through application of excessive axial force to the screw.

摘要： An operating mechanism for an enclosure-mounted circuit breaker includes a slider for engaging the circuit breaker handle; a shaft-driven pivot for moving the slider between the handle on, off and reset positions; a holder for holding the slider in its reset position; a base plate for supporting the pivot and the slider; and a door-mounted rotary handle for rotating the shaft and operating the pivot. The rotary handle may engage the shaft in the on and off positions, and may be detached from the shaft in the reset position. The pivot may include a first pivot arm having a first cam surface for holding the slider in its reset position. A second cam surface on a second pivot arm may engage a first slider surface from off to on; a second slider surface from on to off, from off toward reset, and to resist reset to off; and an oblique slider surface when adjacent reset. The second cam surface may disengage the oblique surface at reset. Alternatively, the slider may include a notch and the base plate may include a latch for engaging the notch. The pivot may include a single pivot arm having a cam surface which engages a slider surface from off to on; an oblique slider surface from on to off, and from off to reset in order to engage the notch and the latch; and another oblique surface to disengage the notch and the latch from reset to off. The slider may include an oblique shoulder for moving the handle from on to off and from off to reset, for resisting the handle force from reset to off, and for using the handle force to engage the notch and the latch in the reset position in order to substantially decouple the handle force from the rotary handle.

摘要： A circuit breaker includes a conductor, a fixed contact connected to the conductor, and an arc runner disposed on the conductor adjacent the fixed contact. The arc runner includes a first portion abutting the fixed contact and a second portion disposed in a recess of the circuit breaker housing. The arc runner is adapted to draw an arc from the fixed contact. A circuit breaker operating mechanism cooperates with a movable contact for opening and closing the fixed contact and the movable contact. An arc chute is adjacent the arc runner. A trip unit cooperates with the operating mechanism to trip open the fixed and movable contacts.

摘要： An electrical switching apparatus interface assembly provides remote actuation of the operating handle of a circuit breaker. The interface assembly includes the circuit breaker, a second switching apparatus, such as an actuating handle disposed in a remote location from the circuit breaker, a connector and an operating handle attachment including a handle-engaging segment for securely engaging the circuit breaker operating handle and an interfacing segment for receiving the connector. The actuating handle is operable between ON and OFF positions corresponding to ON and OFF positions, respectively, of the circuit breaker operating handle. The connector interfaces or links the circuit breaker to the actuating handle. In this manner, when the actuating handle is moved from the ON or OFF position, the connector moves the circuit breaker operating handle in a likewise manner.

摘要： The helical contact compression springs of a circuit breaker are preassembled in a contact clip for easier assembly of the circuit breaker. The bottom wall of an elongated trough formed by the clip is pierced by holes forming cylindrical protrusions extending into the trough. The clip is placed over the springs supported in a row in a fixture. A die head presses on the spring clip to compress all the springs and then simultaneously insert punches into the holes in the clip to expand the protrusions and secure the springs to the clip. The fixture includes a slide mounted on guides for movement between a loading position and an operating position under the die head. A support block is pivoted on the slide to present one of two sets of spring recesses for circuit breakers having different current ratings with the slide in the loading position.

摘要： A molded case circuit breaker is taught with a housing base and a primary cover disposed on the housing base. The primary cover has a recess therein for an auxiliary module which is disposed in the recess. A secondary cover is disposed on the primary cover for covering the recess when the auxiliary module is disposed therein. A combination manual trip and secondary cover interlock is provided which is accessible from outside of the secondary cover for manually opening separable main contacts or for automatically opening separable main contacts when the secondary cover is removed. There is also provided on the back plane of the housing a single piece DIN rail attachment for securing the back plane to a DIN rail. There is provided an under voltage release mechanism for actuating the circuit breaker to trip on the occurrence of an under voltage condition of predetermined magnitude across the lines served by the circuit interrupter. The under voltage release mechanism has an adjustment spring which is controlled by a nut or thumb screw on a shaft to vary the spring force for calibrating the under voltage release mechanism. There is also provided a self-retaining collar member for the load and line terminals of the circuit interrupter. The collar member comprises a locating protrusion in the bottom thereof which aligns with a hole in the load or line conductors. Side entrapment members which entrap the line or load conductor therebetween and between the bottom of the collar member are also provided.
