摘要: An approach is provided for receiving a voice-based emergency call and routing it to a local Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) along with anchoring information identifying the caller and their location. The PSAP may provide options for the caller to choose to use non-voice-based messaging service concurrent with the voice-based emergency call. If the caller desires and chooses to communicate via non-voice-based messages, then a text messaging application at the PSAP is used to communicate with the caller. The PSAP utilizes the anchoring information obtained from the concurrent voice-based emergency call when communicating with the caller.

摘要: Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications, for various telemetry applications, such as meter reading, alarm applications or the like, utilize data communication service via a public mobile/wireless communication network, such as the short message service (SMS). However, such M2M communications may involve a large number of clients. To avoid the need to assign a telephone number, such as a mobile directory number (MDN) or the like, to each of the many remote M2M clients, routing through the network is based on another type of MSID (Mobile Station Identifier), such as the MIN (Mobile Identifier Number) or the IMSI (International Mobile Station Identifier) of the client. SMS messages transmissions originating at a client use a short code for the M2M application address, and SMS messages intended to terminate at a client use the MIN or IMSI as the routing address for the M2M device.

摘要: A Raman system uses a semiconductor tunable laser subsystem to generate a tunable signal that is tuned over a scan band of greater than 50 nanometers. A probe system transmits the tunable signal to a sample. Finally a detector system comprises a bandpass filter for filtering a Raman signal from the sample generated by the tunable signal, and a detector for detecting the filtered Raman signal.

摘要: To address counterfeit problems, for example, we propose a secure, flexible, and cost-effective authentication solution that can be integrated into conventional distribution logistic systems. The proposed solution for product authentication and distribution channel validation comprises three major components: 1) machine-readable Raman-active chemical taggant; 2) a taggant reader; and 3) a taggant eraser. The proposed solution is to control and validate the distribution channel by authenticating the origin of products. Authentication is accomplished by verification of distinct taggants associated with the articles, such as on its label, along with other product distribution information in optical, spatial-encoding indicia, such as a barcode. The taggant information is used to identify, validate, and distinguish the origin of the source of the articles, such as goods or products. The taggant material is thereafter rendered unreadable by modifying the taggants to make obtaining the information unfeasible, thereby controlling the taggants' lifecycle.

摘要: An bench assembly alignment apparatus and method provides for precision alignment of the assembly with an alignment feature on a substrate. The bench assembly may comprise, for example, a fiber array to be mounted to, and aligned with, an opto-electronic device within a device package. Passive alignment of the bench position and orientation is achieved in a manner that affords improved device yield and increased precision in an economical process that eliminates the need to fabricate an additional alignment surface on the side wall of the bench.

摘要: An imaging and decoding system for an imaging-based bar code reader. The imaging and decoding system includes an imaging system and a decoding system. The imaging system includes an imaging pixel array and a memory which function to: image the target bar code by scanning the target bar code at an acute angle with respect to a vertical axis of the target bar code to generate a tilted imaged bar code stored in memory, the tilted imaged bar code comprising an array of gray scale values stored in the memory; generate a virtual scan line traversing a horizontal width of the tilted imaged bar code; establish a zone about the virtual scan line; and project gray values within the zone onto the virtual scan line thereby generating a sequence of gray scale values associated with the virtual scan line, the sequence of gray scale values representative of a pattern of elements of the target bar code. The decoding system decodes the target bar code utilizing the sequence of values associated with the virtual scan line.
