Abstract:
Tub apparatus includes a foamed resiliently compressible plastic tub wall having an inner side and an outer side, the tub having an interior to receive liquid; a tensile liner adjacent the wall side, the liner and characterized in that it resists outward expansion in response to loading exerted by liquid filled into the tub interior; and including ports extending through the side wall and liner for circulating liquid between the interior of the tub and the exterior thereof. The plastic wall is typically locally heat cored in situ and provided with elbow fittings having venturis for efficient water, and water and air flow.
Abstract:
A vibrator is used by pressing a vibrating member vibrated by the action of a driving source onto a shoulder or other parts of the body. A space is defined within the vibrating member, and an idler is movably disposed within the space. The idler may be composed of, for example, a solid cylindrical body, an elastically deformable cylindrical body, or a powdery or granular material.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to improvements in or relating to tremor stabilisation apparatus and methods, in particular to gyroscopic devices for use in controlling tremors of parts of the body, both physiological and pathological, especially the hands. We describe an apparatus for reducing effects of tremors on the human body. The apparatus comprises a wearable element and at least one gyroscopic device mounted or mountable to the wearable element, the gyroscopic device comprising a gyroscope and a gyroscope housing. The apparatus is characterised in that the at least one gyroscopic device is mounted within the housing by means of a mount which allows the gyroscope to precess with respect to the housing. In one embodiment, the mount comprises a hinge to which the gyroscope is mounted and a hinge plate or hinge mount to which the hinge is mounted for rotation with respect to the gyroscope housing. Preferably the hinge plate or hinge mount comprises a turntable mounted to the gyroscope housing. Preferably, the or each gyroscopic device further comprises a control arrangement to control the precession of the gyroscope.
Abstract:
A high-efficiency portable spa is provided for therapeutic and recreational use which includes a tub, a flow generator for circulating water in the tub, and a two-section insulating cover. A heat generator is located adjacent an outlet of the flow generator uses a constriction member in a fluid passageway to frictionally generate heat from the passage of fluid therein and also to reintroduce water circulating through a heat scavenging coil surrounding the flow generator. The tube is advantageously provided with a shell, a frame for supporting the shell, a flexible web barrier surrounding the frame, a skirt surrounding the web, and insulating foam which adheres to the web barrier so that, during curing, the skirt is isolated from shrinkage, crinkling or warping. The cover is provided in two sections and hinged therebetween. The edge of the cover rests on the shell of the tub, and one of the sections may be folded out of the way to provide access to the tub while substantially insulating the remainder.
Abstract:
A pump apparatus for supplying water and air via suitable respective feeding apparatus to a swimming pool or similar facility, with an electric motor for driving the pump apparatus comprising channel sections surrounding, at least partially, the electric motor by forming an annular gap, the air being feedable through the channel sections to a collecting chamber which is connected to a supply member for delivering air to said water feeding apparatus and/or to said swimming pool.
Abstract:
A hydrotherapy apparatus is provided with agitating air being preheated by the pump motor to avoid cooling the heated water, by confining the agitating air in thermal exchange relationship with the waterpump motor.
Abstract:
A device for simultaneously applying electromagnetic alternating directional energy, thermal, and vibrational energy to various areas of the body which has been found to reduce or even eliminate the pains and symptoms caused from arthritis, bursitis and other bone joint maladies. The device includes a housing, an electromagnet disposed in said housing, an elastic band having a pair of permanent magnets coupled magnetically on each side of the band to each other with the elastic band being suspended at each end to the housing and positioned within the alternating magnetic field of the electromagnet. The electromagnet has a shaped steel core which acts to concentrate the magnetic flux lines through the suspended permanent magnets and is driven by low frequency alternating current causing the suspended magnets to vibrate. The electromagnet core is contructed in such a way to contribute heat for thermal application to the body simultaneously in conjunction with the concentrated magnetic field and vibration. The resulting simultaneous effects of the low frequency alternating (in direction) magnetic field, the vibrating elastic band and thermal concentration of energy is found to be extremely effective for the reduction or elimination of pain and other body disorders caused by arthritis, bursitis and other related bone joint diseases.
