A separator prevents microplastics from entering the environment by regenerating the pressure consumption of filters for removing microplastics in effluent from any source but in particular removing microfibers from domestic and commercial washing machine wastewater, industrial textile processing waste and roadside runoff. The separator separates microplastics from an effluent, and includes a chamber with an inlet and an outlet, a sieve structure forming a permeable barrier between the inlet and the outlet to filter the effluent, and a pump in fluid communication with the outlet of the chamber.
Abstract:
A rotary disc filter is provided with an integrated backwash and chemical cleaning system. In one mode of operation, backwash is directed through a control valve to one or more nozzles for spraying the backwash onto the filter media forming a part of a rotary disc filter. In a second mode, a chemical cleaning mode, the pump directs backwash through an eductor that induces a chemical into the inductor which is mixed with the backwash to form a backwash-chemical mixture that is sprayed onto the filter media. A control system is used in conjunction with the backwash and cleaning systems to monitor process information and/or filter media properties and to determine when to perform backwashes and regenerative cleanings in order to optimize the performance of the filter system.

The laundry treating machine may include a tub to receive wash water, a drum rotatably provided in the tub, an air supply device to supply air to the tub, a lint filter to filter lint from the air circulated by the air supply device, a filter cleaning device to supply cleaning water to the lint filter to remove the lint from the lint filter, and a cooling water supply device to supply cooling water to an inner surface of the tub such that moisture contained in air is condensed at the inner surface of the tub.

A screen intake apparatus for a water intake system uses a cleaning system to clean one or more screen intakes. To clean debris from a screen, pipes in the interior of the screen receive pumped liquid (e.g., water or incompressible liquid) from a pump. Outlets, such as apertures or nozzles, on the pipes then direct the pumped liquid into the interior of the screen. One or more valves can vary, agitate, or pulse the flow of pumped fluid and/or can selectively deliver the pumped liquid to the pipes to remove collected debris from the exterior of the screen. A heater of the system can also heat the pumped liquid for delivery to the pipes to remove or prevent ice formation on the screen.

A spray ring is cycled back and forth along the longitudinal axis of a finisher to allow a high pressure cleaning stream of water or solvent to be directed against the surface of the finisher. A linear rodless cylinder is attached to the spray ring and is sequenced to move the spray ring, responsive to, among other possible inputs, flow measured by a flow switch or flow sensor as a control input to the device.

An improved method for separating solid particles from liquids, such as dewatering and thickening of sludge collected in a container (1), involves the use of at least one drainage unit (9) having doubled screened jacket walls (25, 26) defining a dewatering chamber (10). The liquid relieved of solids within the chamber is subjected to a turbulent motion acting against said screened jacket walls for obstruction of the solids deposition at the wall surfaces of the chamber facing the sludge in the container. The turbulent motion is obtained by a forced fluid F introduced in the chamber through one or more tubes (30, 31). The fluid may favorably be in form of compressed air or water returned from the reject system (14, 16).

In a system for separating solids from a liquid in a slurry, a filter apparatus is cleaned by a jet and a removal device. The filter is generally flat and has an inflow side on which the solids are deposited and an outflow side supported by a grid. The grid subdivides the outflow side into a plurality of separate injection chambers and defines a plurality of separate small regions of the filter. The jet directs a stream of liquid through one of the injection chambers and against one of the small regions of the filter defined by the injection chamber. A cover plate is provided on the jet for engaging the grid to close one injection chamber opposite the filter. The removal device is located on the inflow side of the filter and is aligned with the jet to receive solids dislodged from the filter. The jet and removal device move simultaneously and in alignment to close selectively and to direct a stream of liquid through each of the injection chambers.
